Manchester United legend Roy Keane has launched a scathing critique of Chelsea star Cole Palmer, claiming the midfielder has “far too many bad habits” to truly elevate the England national team.
Speaking ahead of international fixtures, Keane pointed directly to Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat against Brentford, expressing skepticism over whether Palmer can be the main catalyst to lead England to major tournament glory.

While acknowledging Palmer’s undeniable talent, Keane in a chat with ITV, stated: ‘Well, I think, whatever his injuries, and if he is injured… I watched his last game against Brentford and if you think he’s going to get England to another level and win trophies, forget about it.
‘I like Palmer, he’s a talented boy, but he’s got far too many bad habits, for me.’
The backlash follows Palmer’s controversial withdrawal from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for their UEFA Nations League matches due to fitness and load management.
Palmer’s decision to pull out raised eyebrows given that he has featured heavily for Chelsea, starting six of their opening seven matches despite managing underlying physical discomfort.
