Daniel Akpeyi has expressed total respect for his Kaizer Chiefs rival, Itumeleng Khune, reports Completesports.com.
Akpeyi took over as the Amakhosi number one custodian following Khune’s injury last season and has failed to relinquish the position.
Manager Ernst Middendorp has kept faith with the Nigerian international, who has produced a number of impressive displays in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) this season.
Akpeyi has however acknowledged Khune’s status as a club hero and his admiration for the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.
‘He is a true legend

no wonder he’s a hero.I have so much respect for him even more,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
Akpeyi made his 20th league appearance of the season as Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1- 1 draw by Bidvest Wits on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old has kept nine clean-sheets in the league this season.
He joined Kaizer Chiefs from Chippa United last year.
