The striker was on target last weekend for Heracles against Ado Den Hagg. He netted a brace and an assist as his side thrashed their opponents 4-0.

He is also currently the top scorer in the Dutch top flight league.

“After series of discussion with the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, I have decided to fully commit myself to Nigeria and the Super Eagles and I am going to work to be part of the team and fight for more sucesss for the country,” reads a statement credited to Dessers on the Twitter handle of the NFF on Thursday.

“I am a proud Nigerian, and I can’t wait to fulfill my dream of wearing the green white green.”

  • Great news to hear.. Am very happy with the collections of top strikers we have ..it wud cause a good competition among themselves..

  • This is heart warming news. This is type of success hungry players we want in Eagles, not all this shoulder high average players like Eze and Co. He should learn from players like Dominic Solanke, Jordan Ibe, Dominic Iorfa, who all thinks they are better than Nigeria, now they have been absolutely relegated by England with no market value.

  • Patrick Eduviere 4 years ago

That’s good news, I but will he be given equal right in the Nigeria national team?

    • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

Moses, Iwobi, Aina, Aribo, Ekong, Balogun…..have these players been given ‘equal right’ in the national team…?

    • I’m not sure Rohr will play him, after all this guy has been there for long but didn’t get invited, I don’t know what Rohr saw in onuachu that he keeps getting called up.

      • Even Dennis is not bad but Rohr don’t seem to trust him

      • Olusegun. B 4 years ago

Thanks Exactly! I wonder myself . I’m eager to see Dessers play for Nigeria

      • JimmyBall 4 years ago

…is Rohr a coach? What has he achieved with Nigeria ? It’s his greed taking full squad to lowly Lesotho that made us not qualify to Olympics… He was even scared to try Osimhen in Afcon and now he seems he can’t make his team without Osimhen… He is looking for friendlies to try the likes of Dessers and Dennis… Why can’t he rest regulars and try them against Sierra Leone? He could not even give Josh Maja smoke minutes against Ukraine… Bringing him on like 90th minute…

        • That’s what I’m saying, a typical German men are always conservative, I am in Austria so I know what I’m saying. They find it difficult to try something new.

  • Akuruo-ulor 4 years ago

Now that is a player who really wants to play for Nigeria, this guy has my respect….believe it or not dessers has a chance with Belgium of you consider the number of goals he has and compare it with that of dries mertens, lukaku, and divock origi, but he just wants Nigeria,I hope God blesses him with a splendid career in our SE colours!!!

    • Saint P. 4 years ago

Yeah, it’s good to have someone who is keen to play for Nigeria and having chance with Belgium or not I dunno but what I know is you can’t compare him with Merten and Lukaku, these guys plays and scoring regularly in Serie A Bro, as a striker you need something more to thrive in that league and I don’t think any coach would put him a head of these guys.

  • Nigerian father or Nigerian mother?? Complete sports!!!!!!!!!!! He has a belgian dad.

  • Chima E Samuels 4 years ago

I hope we successfully cap him on time that’s what matters!

  • gowetok 4 years ago

This is the standard NFF and Rohr should stick to going forward. No more trying to convince players born abroad to play For Nigeria.Invitation should only be extended to playe4s who show a strong desire to play for the S.E. let’s forget Ebere Eze et al unless they declare openly that they feel like playing for Nigeria

Welcome Dessers Cyreil. We all love you.Let that double name sycophant come quickly n dislike. We know you,one of those players agents now scared their pretenders in SE will end up giving way to more quality players come through soon. Lol

    • Glory 4 years ago

Loooolzzz… Keep disliking man. Get ready to buy more data, so u can come here to dislike, cos many many more quality players are already processing switch to Nigeria. They will start unveiling pretty soon. Instead of growing grey hair n getting bard at such young age, I d adviced you tell your client to up his game otherwise such pretenders are only wasting their time thinking they already SE player.

            Lol..
Whoelse do you think it is?? Na omo9a… Lol

  • Ololo 4 years ago

He has a Nigeria mother, normally kids get more closer to their mum than their father, which explains his love for Nigeria.. But 2020 would witness stiff competition in the striking department.. Maja is knocking, iheancho wants to return, no one talks of okereke, sadiz umar is knocking.. This is not an easy competition for any player

    • I’m not sure Rohr will play him, after all this guy has been there for long but didn’t get invited, I don’t know what Rohr saw in onuachu that he keeps getting called up.

      • Ololo 4 years ago

Rohn cannot play every player.. Those playing, oshimen, Sam Chuks, Sam Kalu etc have been doing well… So would you rather have rohn bench a red hot oshimen tested and trusted for super eagles for a Cyril guy who no doubt is good but with zero international experience.. Don’t be too quick to judge the coach, these others players Time would come, the Cyril guy has been showing interest since last 2 years now but rohn has been waiting for him to develop his game properly before he gets an invite.

        • You will be quick to defend just as Drey always do, if Rohr is that technically sound he would have found a replacement for Iwobi instead he keeps doing the same thing over and over again

          • Ololo 4 years ago

The players rohn would pick are mostly players we all know, playing in major leagues in Europe, except you want him to pick our local boys,, if I may ask you which Nigeria player can do exactly what iwobi does for super eagles, remember iwobi forced Mikel into retirement like ommeroe did with yobo in 2013.. We are not so blessed in that attacking midfield position, let tell ourselves the truth, in fact all over Africa it has been a major issue. Since the retirement of Jay Jay okocha, Nigeria have been asking for someone similar, we thought rabui Ibrahim would become the answer no he wasn’t, even Mikel wasn’t so similar, so my brother asking to find an attacking midfielder is not something so easy for him except he starts to manufacture this players himself.. This was the reason nff had to travel to beg ebere eze to play for Nigeria, he is only player close to iwobi in terms of attacking midfield play.. We no get my brother

          • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

Hehehehe….is it about defending Rohr or about setting the records straight…from most of the lies and fictitious conspiracy theories people like you always come here to spread because of your hate for Rohr which has beclouded your senses of logical reasoning…? Lolz.

So It is a coach’s ‘technical soundness’ that manufactures players abi…It was Klopp’s ‘soundness’ that manufactured Mo Sallah and Co or it was Lampard’s ‘soundness’ that produced Tammy and co.

It is SE coach that will manufacture playmakers for Nigeria abi…? LMAO
Dont worry, we will employ Dangote and Innosson as coaches after Rohr.

You will tell us if it wans’t Rohr who converted Iwobi to a no 10 in the first place. Lolz

        • JimmyBall 4 years ago

…Red hot Osimhen against the likes of Lesotho and Sierra Leone… that’s a waste of first team players because that’s a country Eyimba or Nasarawa United can play and win… Use easy games to new players like Dessers or Emmanuel Bonaventure to know how you get back up for your regulars and first teamers…

          • Do we still have easy games in Africa again. You want him to take a foolish risk and when it backfire you will be .gr one to abuse him.

      • If Rohr had try players like Dennis, maja or kalu in that position maybe one of them will be Iwobi’s replacement instead he focused more on team chemistry, he can try something new.

        • If not our complain that Iwobi should be played as no 10 oga Rohr wouldn’t do it.

        • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

The clubs where Dennis, Maja and Kalu play and train on daily basis are not trying them as no 10…..it is in national team where they only train 2-3 times before matches that we will be trying them when Iwobi who is playing there is already available….Lolz.

I dont know where you people get this mentality that the National team is a laboratory. The other day it was somebody asking why Rohr is not ‘risking’ Okoye as No1 goalie. Let his club ‘risk’ him as the no1 goalie first, then we cant take it up from there in the national team.

Shebi it was your complain that made Iwobi a natural 10, dont worry, your complain will still make Paul Onuachu a central defender. Lolz

          • Iwobi always play as a winger while he was in arsenal, it was we who forced the coach to play him in no 10 period.

          • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

Weldone. Clap for yourself. You for kuku say you were the one who manufactured the no10 skills and gave iwobi na….LMAO.

FYI….iwobi has been a CAM since his time at Arsenal academy up till wen he got into the first team. Even He himself has always said that in many interviews. He was only shifted to the left to make space for him in the 1st team since Ozil was the team’s playmaker.

Even when he debuted for the SE and in his first few games, he debuted as a CAM (in those cases in the absence of mikel).

It was Mikel’s continued presence that always meant Iwobi played wide just to accommodate him in the starting XI. Iwobi played 10 with Mikel in the team anytime we played a 352….otherwise when we played our usual 4231 back then Iwobi was often shifted to the wings so mikel could play from the centre

You didn’t force anyone to do anything….the coach’s tactics determined that.

  • Patrick 4 years ago

A Great and talented footballer. You are welcome to super eagles.

  • If you dislike Desser then you better stop watching our football. Dr Drey please don’t dislike my comment just caution me the right words to use thank you sit. Lobatan

  • Elijah samson 4 years ago

Nff is busy running after those that are not evening thinking about Nigeria. Pls do Nff go and bring him before it too late

  • The young man is keen and hungry to represent us: that is what I like.

For those dual nationality players who don’t have this sort of fire in their belly like Cyril, then we really should not waste time on them.

The Super Eagles is not option B,it is option A; only players who see it that way are welcomed.

  • Osondu 4 years ago

If you love Cyril give me a like….

    • Osondu 4 years ago

Mr Drey are you the one disliking oya relike before you turn to salt.

      • Dr. Drey 4 years ago

Hehehehehe….Ichie Osondu…What is my business with likes or dislikes.

What I write, I write. Anybody wey like make e like am, anybody wey nor like make e nor like am, e nor add or commot one strand of hair for my body…so far dem nor delete am, Im good.

I’ld rather have an edit button than this like/dislike button CSN introduced. It’s quite useless to me. Though there are some people here who get excited when they have more likes than their rivals. Lolz

  • Cyril Dessers will be a weapon for the super eagles. He will remind us of Osaze Odenwingie who came newly to the super eagles and silence bafana bafana in 2004 Afcon and also bench Aghahowa, Agali and Yakubu. Dont be suprise if he bench Osimhen.

But but but; what are they smoking in NFF BOARD…..As in ehn,,,, chasing a player whose dreams and ambitions is to be in the LION’s DEN wit de national team of england is absurd and makes no sense……
Y not let him alone and move on wit DESSERS whose dreams is to be in de EAGLE’s NEST wit S.E?????

NIGERIANS always reason from one paspective…..
    Let me ask diz question;
how many creative midfielfders does LIVERPOOL have???
I know some CLUELESS fans will mention “SALAH & MANE” that mainly operate from wings and chip in to score goals…… FIRMINHO is always used as a false 9 hence giving room 4 de afore-mentioned names to wreck havocks…… But liverpool scored 4 against everton in de absence of him & Salah…..
Wich means wit or without SALAH/FIRMINHO they wil stil score goals simply bcos Liverpool make use of their FULLBACKS in most cases…..
HERNDASON, MILNER, WIJNALDUM, FABINHO are purely DMs…..

FOOTBALL is not a one perspective game….. Consider de players u have on ground and bring a tactice dat wil help u win games wit ease….

Let’s 4get about all diz creative midfielder of a thing and manage what we have jarre…..
Diz shame is too much to bear….
A little boy not even considered good enough to start a tough match in U21 for england is being begged to come and wear a national team jersey previousely worn by legendary players like OKOCHA, KANU, MIKEL and co……

    • Olusegun. B 4 years ago
