Atletico Madrid new boy Mario Hermoso says he is ready to try and step into the void left by Diego Godin’s departure. The brilliant Uruguayan elected not to extend his nine-season stay with Los Colchoneros, instead joining Inter Milan on a free transfer.
Hermoso has been snapped up to add extra depth in the back-line and while Jose Gimenez and Stefan Savic look set to be first choice, the former Espanyol man is sure to be given chances to impress. Inevitably, the comparisons with Godin have started but the 24-year-old, who came through the ranks across the city at Real, is relishing the prospect of starring at the Metropolitano.
