He’s A Sensational Player –Klopp Hails Awoniyi

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has heaped praises on Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi after he scored against the Reds on Saturday in the Premier League at the City Ground.

Recall that Awoniyi scored what became the winning goal in the 55th minute to hand all three points and lift Steve Cooper’s side off the bottom of the table.

The Nigerian international was a Liverpool player from 2015 to 2021, but never played a minute for Klopp’s team.

The striker returned to England in the summer and has had a decent start to life at Forest, especially in the context of their struggles.

“He [Awoniyi] had a sensational development,’ Klopp said post-match after enduring Liverpool’s latest disappointing result.

“He has arrived where he belongs and I am happy for him, but not today so much.’”

International career

Awoniyi represented Nigeria at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and went on to win the tournament, scoring four goals during the competition. He also represented Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand after winning the 2015 African U-20 Championship in Senegal.

On 12 April 2015, he scored a brace on his debut for the Nigeria U-23 team in a match against Zambia, as his team went on to qualify for the 2015 All African Games. He was selected by Nigeria for their 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics

He was selected by Gernot Rohr in late 2021 to represent Nigeria at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, making his debut in their 1–0 loss to the Central African Republic. Awoniyi was selected to represent Nigeria at the AFCON 2021 where he led the line for Nigeria throughout the tournament. His only goal during the tournament came in the 3-1 group stage win against Sudan.

  • Taiwo Awoniyi belongs to the premier league and that’s a fact……I know he took a gamble by coming to forest but he is getting noticed and it’s a massive gain…… Liverpool and many Top EPL teams just wanted to know if Taiwo could perform at the premier league stage but they could not afford to risk testing him in their team because they have too much at stake in their teams……Enter forest who where willing to take the risk on him and behold Taiwo has just prove to the world that he is world class. …… Taiwo is at home in the EPL and his future is wide open to head in an upward direction….. Taiwo please keep fighting for forest and at the same time fighting for your future…… You remain an EPL material.

Well said Brodaman AK47 P. Naysayers can drink from the swamp for all we care. Awoniyi is destined to be a star in the English Premer League. All these jingoist people with no ambition want him to continue in mediocrity. Mediocrity is their cornflakes.
Heaven bless Awoniyi and all deserving Super Eagles players.

Union Berlin – No 1 in Bundesliga and currently in Europe

Nottingham Forest – No 20 in EPL and about to be relegated

Someone should please define ‘mediocrity’ again please.

I just hope Osimhen too will not leave Napoli for Norwich or Chukwueze leave Villareal for WesBromwich Albion at the end of this season to “fight for his future and prove to the world that he is world class” too.

Rather prove my class to the world by firing my team to domestic and/or continental glory than firing them into the 2nd division.

    Klopp on the hot seat.
His untouchable status took a big hit after defeat to bottom-of-the league Nottingham Forest. Klopp has entered the twilight zone with this defeat. He is now a bonafide resident of OYO state (On Your Own). If Liverpool underperform in the next few games, Klopp could be out of a job. The pink slip hangs over his head like the sword of Damocles. Stevie G’s sudden unexpected exit at Aston Villa should serve as a warning to him.
Premier league clubs are not joking around. Perform, or bounce.
As for Forest, their tug of war at the bottom of the league table with Leicester continues in earnest. For now, Forest have pushed Leicester to the bottom. However, a win over Wolves today will see Leicester leapfrog both Wolves and Forest to the 18th position, the spot Wolves currently occupy.
