Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro is full of excitement following the warm reception accorded the team by Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Peseiro and his players were received by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles came second at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-time champions lost 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the competition.
The players and their officials were awarded with national honours, plots of land as well as flats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the reception.
Peseiro took to the social media to show his appreciation to the president.
“Honored and proud.
We were received and commended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reinforced what we already felt from the Nigerian people, participating in AFCON made the whole Nation dream, happy and united!, Peseiro wrote on his official X handle.

To me, this remains the most fiercely contested nations cup with lots of engaging dramas. Congrats to all -players, management and fans as well. Let’s also appreciate the government for the encouragement given to sports encapsulated in the activities of the Sports Ministry. That said, the country is blessed with astute sportsmen/women from North to South; East to West so it’s beckoning on the government of Tinubu/Shettima to undertake a holistic restructuring to affect not just security, economy but sporting activities as well. Let’s have regionalized form of competition from where those who distinguished themselves will then be picked to make up our national team. This is sure to eliminate nepotistic selection of players to a more and ideal merit based selection.
