Hughton Looking Forward To Winger’s Return

Brighton boss Chris Hughton is looking forward to welcoming a fit Alireza Jahanbakhsh back into the fold when he’s finished in the Asian Cup.

Jahanbakhsh will not be back in time for Tuesday’s clash at Fulham though because he will be in the Asian Cup semi-final with Japan after he helped Iran overcome China 3-0 in their quarter-final.

Jahanbakhsh is fit after making his third start of the tournament, he was still suffering from a hamstring injury sustained at Everton three months ago when he joined up with the Iran squad, but he’s obviously fully recovered now.

Hughton said: “He went there not fully fit. He was recovering from the injury. We have kept in touch with him.

That is the good news. “He has been playing games and we fully expect him to come back at whatever stage ready for action. That one is a plus.”

Mathew Ryan’s Australia side play hosts United Arab Emirates on Friday, defeat would see him jet back and the keeper could be available for Tuesday.
