Chelsea new signing, Nicolas Jackson claimed he spoke with Senegal teammate Sadio Mane before making the switch to the Stamford Bridge.
Mane played for new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino during his stint at Southampton
Jackson told chelseafc.com: “I spoke to Sadio Mane about him and he spoke very highly of him, he said amazing things about him. Sadio told me the manager is going to help me a lot to improve and do well if I listen to what he has to tell me, so that is exactly what I’m going to do.”
The Senegal striker enjoyed a superb end of season with Villarreal.
He continued: “I wasn’t amazed or surprised at how well my season went, I wanted to do more! I didn’t do enough for me, because I had my goals to reach but I didn’t achieve the goals I wanted. It was very good but I wanted more.
“I am a guy that always wants more, but I always thank God for what he gave me. I’m always grateful and know how lucky I am to be able to do what I do, playing football for teams like this and in stadiums like this, but I always want to make the most of what I have been given, I always want to do better.
“I knew it was coming because I was working so hard. Everything just takes time and hard work. Before I was thinking that if I scored all the chances I had, I would have scored maybe 30 goals. I was working hard because I was missing some chances, but later I improved a lot and I improved everything, so I knew it would happen sooner or later and I was ready for it.”
Jackson added: “I always give my best and give 100 per cent and always help the team, because I want to achieve things as a person and as a group. I always want more achievements, so hopefully if I work hard here those things will come and we will achieve things together at Chelsea, with the support of my team-mates and the fans.”

Look at a Senegalese player talking and oozing so much confidence and self belief……His country man Even encouraged him to challenge himself with the elites……If it’s Nigeria you will see them running to Turkey, Cyprus,Greece in search of cheap play time to use to gather useless international caps……If it’s Nigeria you will see ex internationals warning this young lad not to go to Chelsea but to remain in Villarreal or go to a smaller club to see play time……Are the Senegalese more talented than Nigerians?…….Then why do we keep reducing the level of our football every given day?……We are Giants of Africa and everyone including our upcoming players, our SE players, our ex players and our football Administrators should know it.
Hehehehe…..Are you not one of the chief advocators who advised a player who had just fired his Bundesliga team to Europe for the 2nd consecutive season and courted by another Bundesliga team who will be campaigning in UCL to go battle relegation in EPL in order to get noticed by big clubs….LMAOo???
I wonder why you have not recommended such a move for Osimhen too…..LMAOoo. Ive been expecting you to advise Osimhen to join Luton Town in order to show himself to big clubs too….LMAOoo
Hahaha…. Haha.. @Drey you go kill someone someday on this forum. Abeg leave AKP, na my man oooo. He is only trying to boost his football match watching centre. You know say more nigeria players for premier league mean more customers to such business. Aaarun… Lolzzz.
Mr I never advised anyone to move to a lesser club…..I only supported Awoniyi’s premier league move and I am happy Northingham forest stayed up and Awoniyi got noticed…… Union is an up coming team in the Bundesliga and they just got promoted too last 3 or so seasons ago so I rate them at the same level as Northingham forest…….If you pay attention well to my post you will notice that I advocate for top5 leagues….. England, Spain, Germany, Italy,France…. Majority of SE players should be playing in those leagues…… Exceptions should only be given to special talents who are below 23 years to play in big teams of lower leagues for the main time…..The truth is bitter but it must be told no matter how you twist my narrative and dramatize it I still stand my ground……we must increase the standard of the SE if we want to compete among the best or attract world powers in international friendly matches……One genius has already insinuated that I run a viewing center because I wish something good I saw in a Senegalese player for my own national team players……Na wa for una……We can not keep decieving ourselves…… You can not cross the sea of football with substandard players who ply their trade in Turkey, Cyprus,Greece, division 2,…… Football is global now and even the so called lesser African countries now have players in Europe too hence the lack of respect and fear factor we receive from them of recent……If we must dominate Africa and shake the world we must take our game to a whole new level……It irritates me when people attack the messenger instead of digesting the message…..it tells me alot about their level of intelligence.
@ AKP my man, abeg take am easy. I enjoy most of your post here. Sometimes it’s good to laugh and Dr Drey did real justice to that with his reply to your post. I honestly do understand you mean well for not only SE but nigeria as a country. So please we should try not take things personal on this beautiful forum.
Osihmen to Luton town… This Dr Drey sha. 🙂
Mr dr.drey man u are the main man. Longest time
@Akpan
Prior to Awoniyi signing for Nottingham forest, Leipziq a champion league team wants to also sign him but you and a few others advice that he should go to a newly promoted PL team because of more global view.
Next time b4 you advice or write remember some people keep receipts lol
How can I advise Awoniyi to go to forest instead of lipzig haba……it’s not possible nah…..I can never say such and I don’t always comment on players destination on this forum I only comment when the deal is done…… on osimhen if you notice I have never commented that I prefer a certain club for him,I only emphasis that I want him to move to a bigger team and I also argue that osimhen will make the first team of any team in world football at the moment……All I want is for our team to be stronger and more competitive with top class players who can hold their own among any set of players in world football…….To get such we need to have almost all of them playing in top5 leagues in Europe.
And so what? Na today? Let him go Luton na. His brothers are there as Naija love to pack their players in a certain club even though they mostly end in lower division like ..
*Watford (Okoye, Etebo, Hungbo, Kalu, Dele-Bashiru, Troost-Ekong)
* Leceister City
*.Cremonse
*Southampton
*Venezia etc
But like Awoniyi and Dennis, Osimhen and other players (Osho,Onyedika and Adebayo ) can survive with Luton , he’ll become their hero like Okocha to Bolton.
Lol! God forbid .. it’s Madrid, Bayern, PSG or Arsenal or He remains in Napoli.
Awoniyi moving to NFC a blessing in disguise for the big fella. His performance for his club, especially scoring against top teams like Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea and helping his team to remain in EPL has really improved his value and positioned him for a better future.
Remember, Mane was playing for southampton before Liverpool gave him the global recognition he needed. But the same can’t be said of Pepe’s transfer to Arsenal.
It takes more than moving to big clubs to succeed.
It depends more on the type of coach, pattern of play, and club management
They are just trying to deviate the argument and Dodge the point am trying to make…….We want our players to be playing in England Spain Germany Italy and France simple…….How can you make a mark in world football with players in Turkey Cyprus Greece and division 2?……They know what am trying to drive at and they just want to dodge my point by starting a comparison argument of clubs….. Arsenal and Forest are playing in the EPL Lipzig and Berlin play in the Bundesliga Sociadad and Bilbao play in the La Liga so I am not here to argue who is battling relegation or winning titles…….All I want is for our players to be in top leagues……. SIMPLE.
Mr. Nobody is deviating anything…..Just admit you goofed and move on…..LMAOo.
Or do you want to deny encouraging Taiwo to choose Nottingham Forest ahead of Leipzig back then…?? Before coming here to give us sermons about “confidence and self-belief in joining elite clubs”…LMAOoo
Stop lying on me please…..there was never a time Lipzig made a bid for Awoniyi and I argued for him to join forest……I don’t even think any sports site reported about a bid from Lipzig for Awoniyi……And how does that affect the fact that we have a lot of substandard players who ply their trade in mushroom leagues in Europe and commanding a regular run in our national team?……Face the fact and stop attacking the messenger…..my message is clear enough for you to duel on……If we want to be successful and attract the best teams to play with us then we need to make ourselves attractive……We need more elite players…… Belgium did it and they came back from the dead never to come back again……. Switzerland did it and they came back too…….look at Croatia…..look at Senegal…..Look at Morocco……Look at Algeria…… Cameron has always been there……CIV too…… Forget about me and what I allegedly said and focus on the message I brought……ok?
The message you brought (or bring) is stale.
I brought that same message here long before you ever mentioned it. I was the first advocate of our players proving themselves in the top leagues as a way of staking a claim for a place in the national team in the face of numerous options available for selection of late.
You are not telling us anything new.
And deny it all you want, you are one of those who clapped Awoniyi into going to battle relegation in the EPL as a way of getting noticed by bigger clubs rather than campaigning in Europe with the same bigger clubs he is meant to be noticed by.
And yes, RB Leipzig was highly interested in Taiwo as a replacement for the lately misfiring Andre Silva. And yes again, In a season where RBL won the DFB cup with Silva managing just 9 goals in 44 games in all competitions, Awoniyi would have been the poster boy of the club both in the league, in the cup and in the UCL and definitely attracted the biggest of clubs available.
And even if he had stayed back at Union, it would have been an even greater story that his goals helped a small team like Union challenge for the Bundesliga title and ultimately fired them into the UEFA Champions League.
It makes a sweeter story to fire your team to a league title or into continental football than escaping relegation.
Sadio Mane didn’t attract Liverpool by fighting relegation, he attracted Liverpool by firing Southhampton into Europe.
Relegation battlers most of the time always end up being signed up the next season by another relegation fighter (except in some exceptionally rare cases like Danjuma’s move to Villareal from Bournemouth)
For firing 20 goals in Germany and Union Berlin into Europe Taiwo’s value increased by 300%…..for helping Nottingham Forest survive relegation, his value increased by just 25%.
I wonder how this is a blessing in disguise.
Better scoring for RB Leipzig against the likes of Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and in the UEFA Champions League; and winning the DFB pokal, than battling EPL relegation up till matchday 36.
While both Leipzig and Union will be in the UCL next season, a relegation battle is still guaranteed for Taiwo in England next season….LMAOoo.
Talk about value addition or increase in value….!!!
Calculation of value is not for you to do ok?……value calculations is for experts and that’s not our argument here……We want elite players who ply their trade in top5 leagues season to season in our super Eagles simple……. Nobody is arguing market value with you ok?…….face the fact and stop deviating and bringing another issue…….The more elite players we have playing in the top5 leagues the more our chances of attracting high profile friendly games with top national teams…….the more elite players we have in top5 leagues the more players we will produce in the UCL knockout stages……The more elite players we have playing in top5 leagues the more our chances of producing the African footballer of the year award after decades of painful wait…….The more players we have in top5 leagues the stronger and more marketable our national team will be…… Forget about which team battles relegation or which team is better than which team because that argument is above all of us here including you……In Europe teams rise and fall in value every season…..Every season is a new story and that is the beauty of football.
Its the same experts who valued Taiwo 300% higher in 1 season for firing his lowly club into Europe that valued him just 25% higher in 1 season for escaping relegation.
Better our players firing teams to continental football in the top 5 leagues than battling relegation in the top 5 leagues.
Having 7 – 10 players battling relegation or getting relegated every season in/from the top 5 leagues will not help you attract high-profile friendly games with top national teams, nor will it increase the strength and marketability of our national team, the number of players we will produce in the UCL knockout stages, nor our chances of producing the African footballer of the year award after decades of painful wait….stop arguing lamely please…..LMAoooo.
Every “Nigeria FC” in the EPL for almost 3 seasons now has ended up getting relegated…..it has not translated into more players in the UCL, nor more high-profile friendlies, nor more AFOTY nominations, nor increase in the market values of the players and the national team…..so once again, stop arguing aimlessly for the sake of it…..LMAOoo. You are not making any sense anymore.
Finally, Market value is a function of a player’s career progress. You cant separate elite classification from market value……try as much as you want, it can never happen. LMAOoo
Once again, better for our players to fire teams to continental football in the top 5 leagues than battle relegation in the top 5 leagues. Onuachu would be far better off playing for Genk in the UCL next year than playing in the English Championship.
If truly you have brought the message of elite players who play in top5 leagues to play for super Eagles to this forum before me then you will be the first to condemn the continuous invitation of many player to super Eagles……You must be consistent and stand on your line of argument for as long as it takes……As far as I know you have never been against players like Musa,Etebo,Shehu,Ighalo,Omeruo, and co who are all above 27 and not playing top level football for the last 5 years but having a very decent run in the SE……Let’s start from there.
@Glory,I am waiting for you to as well either scornfully laugh to this @AKP powerful delivery or guffaw unrestrainedly to it haha…Don’t take sides!Haha…
If playing in lower or Midtable clubs of top5 league will not improve our players is it Turkey Cyprus Greece that will improve them?…..Life my friend is a gradual process……To write WAEC you must first start from JSS1 them move up the class with performance…….To have a steady participants in the UCL we must first have loads of players playing in the top5 leagues first before standing a higher chance of going higher……. Before Brasil have those number of players in UCL quarter final every year do you Know how many they have in the top5 league generally?…… Brasil have players in Midtable clubs Relegation battle clubs and what have you?…….we must start from somewhere and that somewhere is having at least all our players in top5 leagues then from there we can start producing UCL players…..Mane played for Southampton and where is he today?….. Madison played for Leceister who where relegated last season where is he today?…… leave that your analysis and let us start condemning the nepotism and Favouritsm going on in our football…..The best should represent the rest……Am not against players accumulating national team caps but if you must accumulate caps then you must use our caps well and be playing up there among the elites with our caps…..simple….It’s better to be fighting relegation in England Spain Germany Italy and France with our caps that fighting relegation in Turkey Cyrus Greece Saudi Division 2 with our caps……It’s very simple.
All National team has players that get relegated every season even England too…….If player get relegated they should bounce back using their efforts they put in to fight the relegation to attract elite clubs…… Madison is an example…… Iheanacho will follow up soon,,,,,so forget that excuse…..If Onuachu can not get an elite club then he should step aside and allow other upcoming talented Nigerian striker to do it for him simple…… football is unforgiving and it does not need sentiments……This is the only way to get results from football.
