I Told Rohr To Stick With Young Strikers In Eagles -Ighalo

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has disclosed that he advised Gernot Rohr to bank on the young strikers in the team.

Ighalo, who made his first start for the senior national team against Cape Verde in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos since 2019, stated this in a chat with William Troost-Ekong YouTube channel.

The Al-Shabab FC star said that the current young strikers in the Super Eagles squad are good enough to deliver the goals for the team.

“When the coach called me, I advised him to keep faith with the young players and so many of them are doing well.

“They are fantastic and young, so he just has to believe in them, but now that, I’m here, it’s not about competition, I’m just want to help the team, whichever way I can”.

    • This issue of rhor is really troubling the nff. And their lawyers really don’t know how to go about it . They didn’t read it in law book in the university or law school . So I wil advice them how to win the war.
It possible to send rhor on loan.
To middle east club and if he performs there the club can buy him or sign him on .this wil bring money to nff purse.
In case they want to settle him . Then he should not get near any team til his contract term expires and his passport shud be with nff. And in case he was seen to be working with any team or country den all moneies paid him shud be collected back or the nff shud file a law suit against any employer that gave him the job …y shud a worker be getting payment Concorrently.
A player can not sign for two club at the same time went he still has contract with the other club he wil be fined…
Scenerio case water bonfere Jo as coach of eagles and at the same time doing job for a middle east club nfa allowed him but rest his history.
So glasshouse this wil be a guide… Try the loan option .send him m on loan to Japan club Qatar club .too much money wil come to ur purse . My share u shud remember to keep. With picnik after the sale.

        • “If u want to hide anything from some people put it in paper”.
I don’t know u are my enemy all this while .
My team qualified isn’t it .

  • Surgeon denies he was forced by Napoli chief to indicate 90 days prognosis to stop Osimhen from AFCON duty
    Published: November 24, 2021
Surgeon denies he was forced by Napoli chief to indicate 90 days prognosis to stop Osimhen from AFCON duty
Gianpaolo Tartaro, the maxillofacial surgeon who operated on Victor Osimhen on Tuesday, has denied that he was forced by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to indicate a prognosis of ninety days in order to stop Osimhen from representing Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Before the operation took place, medical experts including Tartaro, and Napoli boss Spalletti, had suggested that Osimhen would return to full training by mid-December, few weeks before he was due to report to a training camp with the Nigeria squad ahead of the AFCON.

Professor Tartaro has denied that a WhatsApp audio circulating in which the voice of the person is heard introducing himself as the specialist did not originate from him.

In the alleged fake audio, the person claiming to be Tartaro revealed that Napoli chief Laurentiis made a specific request for Osimhen to be ruled out for ninety days.

The voice in the WhatsApp audio said : “De Laurentiis has decided. Professor, let’s do 90 days like this as hell we send him to the African Cup.

“So now we will say that he is out for 90 days. Surely he will be able to play the first match in January with the mask, it will not be easy”.

Reacting to the voice audio, Tartaro was quoted as saying by FanPage : “I don’t know how to say it’s not me. In that audio some things are said extremely precise, others wrong. I’m a surgeon, I find it absurd. It’s pure madness.

“In the operating room there was a great coming and going of people and at the end of the surgery I talked about some technical things. I am very sorry about what is happening.

“I repeat, it’s not me. I’m not interested in saying this, I’d just lose out”.

Assuming there is no modification to the medical bulletin issued by Napoli, Osimhen is expected to be inactive until after the league game against Cagliari on February 20.

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

@Frank NNF has the right to invite Osihmen when the camp open to be ascertain by our camp’s doctors but then we’re talking about Amaju Pininick who’s a specialist in displacing priorities.

Under the fifa rule, a club has absolutely no right to withhold a player from representing his country

If napoli is playing a smart game by trying to prevent Osihmen they will invite a heavy hammer from fifa but it depends on how your country’s football administrators goes about it.

Let them simply release him to national team doctors to check whether the injury will truely keep him away from afcon. If yes they send him back to his club and if no they keep him in the afcon squad

Always a breath of fresh air reading posts of people who can still abide by basic grammar rules. The fact that you even followed up your otherwise, succinct, straight-to-the-point rejoinder, with corrections where necessary shows you are one of the few vestiges of a time when people still wrote good English!

  • TALK UR OWN 2 years ago

THANK YOU, THIS IS A POLITICAL STATEMENT.
    NIGERIA ARE WISE.
IF TRULY THAT IS WHAT YOU SAID, THAT MEAN YOU DON’T NEED TO BE AMONG THE SQUAD FOR AFCON. INSTEAD YOU CAN BE AMONG THE SPECTATORS AND BE GIVING ADVICE FROM THE BENCH.
***PLEASE GIVE CHANCE TO THE LIKE OF DESSERS, AWONIYI, UMAR SADIQ, ONYEKURU, MOFFI TO FEATURE IN AFCON. IGHALO PLS DON’T BLOCK THEIR CHANCES.
WE APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR EAGLE IN THE PAST.

  • Francis Eluba 2 years ago

Odion came out to be a prolific striker despite the fact that the pitch wasn’t good. We all saw the energy, gait and how Osimhen was free to rove around the Blue Sharks, that was Odion.
The way you shout Desser, Awoniyi as if Rohr hasn’t invited and used them in the past. Desser was invited and played against Tunisia last year, October precisely, what did he play? Nada!
My brother, put sentiment apart as what Rohr needs is total concentration in the task ahead. The coach has every right to send invite to whoever he feels fit into his plans. Nation’s cup is about a month to go and you are here talking about Desser and all that. That’s not saying I’m against whoever gets Rohr’s invite, he should be allow to do that.

    • Presh 2 years ago

Your wrote sense, you are a genius, thank You, your spot on.

  • RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL 2 years ago

BIG BROS IF TRULY YOU TOLD ROHR TO STICK WITH THE YOUNG GUYS THEN WHY DID YOU ACCEPT HIS INVITATION KNOWING FULLY THAT ACCEPTING THE INVITATION WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN ANOTHER PLAYER. I THINK ONE OF THE MISTAKES ROHR AND HIS EMPLOYEE MADE WAS RECALLING AN OLD PLAYER LIKE IGHALO INTO THE TEAM AT THE DETRIMENT OF YOUNG PLAYERS LIKE AWONIYI,DESSERS,DENISE, SADIQ.
SINCERELY I MUST GIVE KUDOS TO THE FEW GUYS WHO STOOD THEIR GROUND ON THIS FORUM TO SAY NO TO THE WRONG INVITATION OF PLAYERS BY ROHR AND NFF. IF YOU GUYS HAD BEEN SILENT AT THE FACE OF ABUSES AND CONDEMNATION, SUPER EAGLES WOULD BEEN KILLED PERMANENTLY BY THESE CLOG IN THE WHEEL.

AND THOSE THAT SAY ITS A WRONG TIME TO SACK ROHR ON THE EVE OF A COMPETITION, I DO NOT COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU SIRS, LETS TAKE TUCHEL CASE FOR EXAMPLE ,IT WAS DURING THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THAT LAMPARD WAS SACKED AND TUCHEL TOOK OVER AND THE RESULT WAS POSITIVE ,SO ALSO THE ALGERIA FA SACKED THE FORMER COACH AND THE NEW COACH IS PERFORMING MAGIC WITH THE TEAM RIGHT NOW. IN ALL OF THESE ONE CAN CONCLUDE THAT THE TWO COACHES WERE BEREFT OF IDEAS THAT CAN PUSH THEIR TEAMS FORWARD ,NOT THAT THE PLAYERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. SO ALSO THIS NIGERIA TEAM AM SEEING HAVE GREAT POTENTIALS BUT SADLY THEY ARE BEING COACH BY SOMEONE WHO HAS NO BUSINESS IN COACHING ELEMENTARY SOCCER TEAM NOT ALONE A NATIONAL TEAM.

Don’t mind the noise maker, ojare. Our concern now is invitation of the lads for the tourney.

  • Playing club side is different from Afcon, I think that’s where the mistake is coming from. Allow them to make their noise while Rohr continues on the driver’s seat. I am even praying for the so-called Desser to be invited again and let’s see. For Awoniyi, he has been tested and might just be ok to deputize for Osimhen.

    • Victor 2 years ago

If Awo is deputizing, it then means Awo9, Ighalo8. That is going to be quite explosive. My problem is not even the attack but the mid field. The coach would need effective wingers or right backs to help comb the mid field.

      • Presh 2 years ago

Please tell me is Rohr still our coach? i be glad if he’s still the gaffer.

  • Sean T 2 years ago

Believe it or not with Rhor SE will not progress beyond 2nd round at AFCON going by the poor performance of the team since the beginning of the world cup qualifier.

    1. He don’t have the technical skills needed to effect a match positively
    2. He is going to stick to his old and tired legs in the name of Simon, Shehu, Ighalo, Balogun, Ekong & Collins ahead of better players in the team and the Team will suffer the consequence.
    3. Even if he eventually take the right players to the tournament, he will bench them for mediocre and give them 10 – 15 minutes to perform magic.
    4. The Eagles won’t top the group and eventually meet a stronger opponent at the 2nd round.
    5. He lack game management and don’t have ability to find opponent weakness. Lastly he is predictable and not the kind of Coach that adjust his formation based on team he his playing. With all this being said why do we have to waste our time with him. nff should fire him at once and hire a sound and tested foreign coach immediately or let Ammunike take over temporary. Rhor should be handling team like Lake Chad or Botswana so he will have all the excuse he need to justify his failure

  • Seun Dejo 2 years ago

So which number will Odion Ighao play against Egypt on the 9th of Jan., 2022?

    • It is on the 11th of January 2022 but I don’t know coach Rohr’s plan for now. We have to be patient.

  • onwajunior 2 years ago

Lol… Throwing Rohr under the bus. It’s as easy as not coming out of retirement, instead he honored the invitation and played. Btw why can’t we convince Moses to come back? The guy is really balling for Spartak against Napoli…not that error-prone Simon that we’ve been managing.

    • Fred Ebohi 2 years ago

Thanks Harriet. One of the goals was like Steven Gerrard vs West Ham, FA Cup Final 2006.

      • Yep! That was at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Liverpool and West Ham played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. With Liverpool seeing themselves 2-0 down in the first 30 minutes due to an own-goal from Jamie Carragher and a goal from Dean Ashton, Liverpool already looked out of it. A goal from Djibril Cissé and Gerrard’s first pulled Liverpool back into it, exactly like Odion Ighalo’s 3rd goal in the clip. Englishmen never forgot Gerrard.

    • Sean T 2 years ago

Wow ! We don see world best striker Ighalo…hahahahaha. can someone pls tell me what he did in this video that is so special ? Abeg make una rest. In his prime he was just an average striker nothing spectacular about him.

If anyone is wondering why Oga have to be fired, this is part of the reasons why he have to go.

“They are fantastic and young, so he just has to believe in them, but now that, I’m here, it’s not about competition, I’m just want to help the team, whichever way I can”.

Thank you Ighalo for your support. You have done well. As you said, we are blessed with a lot of young talented players. It’s time to move on.

Since we are all in one direction and Nigerians have decided to let go of Oga Rohr, NFF should have a rethink.

This is an opportunity to give our own a chance to rebuild the team within the short of period.

Amunike, Egbo, Marnu Gerba, Finidi George, Peter Rufai, Ikeme and Enyeama should be giving a chance and if they fail to win or rebuild the team then NFF should go for a foreign coach. That is my opinion. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Emeca 2 years ago

@Victor, so you will keep Nacho on the bench again?

  • Super Eagles need a new coach, one who is tactically and technically sound. One who isnt scared of trying new players and giving them time to get used to the team style of play. One who is bold enough to bench those are underperforming inspite of their status. Looking forward to see who will lead the line for the Super Eagles in Osimhen’s absence. But if rohr remains I wont be surprised if its ighalo, musa or onuachu. Players who have either given their best in the past and are only chasing number of cabs, or those who up till now cant find their rhythm in the team, while real talented forwards stay on the bench or are left out of the team for reasons unknown.

It was obvious that the team has moved on without you but your greed has turned your ceremonious retirement into oblivion.
Moses us way younger than you but he is much smarter than you. Perhaps, he is the only retiree that is deserving of a warm welcome.
If you like bribe all the nff members and the sport journalists, you are done, Roar is gone!!!

  • We should please stop attacking this man for Christ sake. To me this man is better than 99% of politicians that have ever come of out every state in Nigeria.

Am not saying young players should not be given their chance ho. This man must have forfited bonuses in the past for Nigeria sake. Please let us sometimes consider the sacrifices they must have made for us in the past.

God can because of these missile of words against this man glory him at the AFcon if he eventually makes it.

At times we just don’t have control over some certain things.

Who could ever tot that osihme will not make it to afcon.

Please enough of this against ighalo. Am beginning to fill for Him even though am not in total support of his coming back.

Please let us allow God to deal with anyone that is playing dirty games abeg

@Yinkus. Ighalo has not done anything to those people who hates him so hard. Ask any of them why they hate Ighalo the way they do. No cogent answer. The effect of these hates made it extremely hard for Victor Moses to want to ever think of coming back to play for Nigeria ever again. In the absence of Osimhen only Victor Moses would have made a difference. If l were Ighalo today, l could easily say l won’t play for Nigeria again and move on. With the way and manner those negative bad people abused, insult Ighalo and his mother is not fun. I say to Ighalo, in the name of our Lord and our ancestor, do not play for Nigeria again. They are not good people to get involved with. You have made money and fame already. Be like our Victor Moses. Let see if they can beat Egypt and move to the next stage in this competition coming on in Cameroon.

Are you sure you are an Edoman as claimed? Ok, who will hate someone that puts his country on the World map if not the agitated? Don’t be deceived, it is a masked up thing. Which is clearly it is either -we- or nobody. The foolishness in that certain mindset.

Even Pinnick, not just Ighalo, they hate anything good about Nigeria; the Green White Green, they hate; Nigerian officials, (NFF, SPORTS MINISTER etc)they hate. They think it is possible to change into another color, which has been vehemently resisted by the power that be, kowe.

They are everywhere and not just on this forum. Have you visited The Vanguard forum? It is an evil mindset that keeps taking them out of the system.

TRUE Nigerians celebrate Ighalo for doing the country proud, he was the highest goal scorer in the whole of AFRICA, 2019, it is a tall feat… Odion Ighalo loves his fatherland and He continue to win glories for Nigeria, nothing is taking that away from him, he knows.

The so-called presupposed haters, actually hate Nigeria as country, and are interested in the dismemberment of our country. They sure would continue trying though in a noisy template.

You guys are daft morons. Playing videos of 2017-2019 Ighalo in 2021.

You can see why Nigeria keeps recycling mediocrity thereby stagnating economy development.

If IGHALA is as good as you fools wants us believe, ehat is he doing in SAUDI ARABIA?

You keep shouting top scorer as if he was the first.

Even an attacking midfielder that JAY JAY OKOCHA was won top scorer at TUNISIA 2004!

Ighalo was our top scorer in a period SE didn’t have proven goal getters in the top 10 EUROPEAN leagues. I challenge you guys to list just 3 NIGERIAN strikers starting in a top 5 league when Ighalo held sway. Even at that his most prolific season was playing for relegation candidates WATFORD where he scored a paltry 12 goals or so

    Today NIGERIAN strikers are amongst the goals for top 10 clubs in top 10 Leagues in EUROPE;

OSIMHEN…NAPOLI…10 last season, 6/7 already this season

    AWONIYI…9 goals UNION BERLIM

ONUACHU…top scorer BELGIUM last season and about 7/8 already

    DESSERS…FEYERNOORD about 5 goals

STEPHEN ODEY…12/14 or so RANDERS (DENMARK)

MOFFI…still holding his own with LORIENT

Even DENNIS a winger is having a banner season with same WATFORD!

    • You are not getting it. Afcon is different from some club games.
