‘I Want To Compete For Nigeria At Olympic Games’ -Omeruo

Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo has revealed his desire to represent Nigeria at the next Olympic Games.

He made this known in a chat with William Troost-Ekong’s YouTube channel, where he said that he want to compete at the Olympics with Nigeria, despite all his achievements.

The Leganese star was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and also won a bronze medal in AFCON 2019 after defeating Tunisia in the third place match.

  • Why not dreaming of winning world cup with Nigeria?

I don’t blame him, I blame the coaches who keep inviting him to the SE. He peaked during the AFCON 2013 displacing and retiring Yobo. After that, age caught up with him and Tau exposed him in the 1 all draw against S.A.

You have passed your prime jare go and rest. With the avalanche of talent and the excellent Akpoguma, you have no business in that team. You can’t compare yourself with Awaziem, rather your invite to the team blocks Ajayi’s space.

Ajayi was given the chance in 2019 Afcon. He was part of the team but like they say you do not change a Winning Team.

Ajayi did not make the squad to Afcon……. You are wrong.

Na now you know. The time you suppose to be serious with Olympic team in year 2016, you are claiming big boy focusing on clubsise by training with Chelsea that time. But at the end which club are you playing now. That year if you remember TROOST-EKONG,he succeeded with Haugesund club in Norway and participated in Olympic 2016 & won bronze medal. After Olympic,he claim first team shirt and assistant captain BOTH club & national team.
    Take your national team seriously

    • Guys pls stop the insult o know my own believe is that Kenneth ome is one of our best defenders and he is ok.

I think Omeruo wants to participate at the Olympics just to complete the Cycle after playing at the U-17, U-20 and Senior World Cups, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Fellow forumites derive pleasure in castigating players for no just cause. His last game for SE was in the 2-1 win over Cape Verde and he had a decent game. He was also decent during the last Afcon, scoring a lovely header in the 1-0 win over Guinea. Though not world class. To me he is at the same level with Ekong. Credit should be given to him for developing through the ranks, : U-17 in 2009, U-20 in 2011 and SE since 2013 and still counting.
