Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has opened up about his suspended 14-month prison sentence for dangerous driving, admitting he was immature and stupid during a high-speed crash.
Recall that on August 20, 2023, Williams crashed his Audi A3 at 99mph in a 70mph zone on the A34 near Handforth, Cheshire, colliding with a Ford Fiesta and hitting the central reservation.

He pleaded guilty and received a 14-month prison sentence suspended for two years, alongside a three-year driving ban and 180 hours of unpaid community work.
Williams took full ownership of his actions during his interview, stating he got himself into the mess and is responsible for turning things around.
In an interview with The Athletic, the 25-year-old admitted he was immature and stupid, detailing his personal struggles and his drive to rebuild his football career.
‘It made me grow up as a person and realise that this is real life, this isn’t GTA (Grand Theft Auto) or something like that,’ Williams told The Athletic.
‘It was a proper wake-up call. Since then it was about building and changing a reputation that I had and that’s not me.

‘I look back at myself now and think what an idiot I was,’ said Williams. ‘That is not what an athlete does, it’s not what a footballer does, it’s not what a grown man does. It’s stupid stuff.
‘I’ve let a lot of people down, to be honest, and I want to prove a lot of people wrong as well.
‘That’s one thing that is left to do in my life, to get back onto the football pitch and show what I can do.’
