Super Eagles duo, Odion Ighalo and Shehu Abdullahi have expressed their delight after receiving Complete Sports recognition awards for their immense contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
Ighalo and Abdullahi were billed to receive their awards during the inaugural Complete Sports Celebrity Workout at The Palms Lekki,Lagos, on December 29 2018, but they were unavoidably absent.
The Super Eagles stars were presented with their awards in Alexandria, Egypt on Saturday.
The two players are currently part of the Super Eagles team competing for honours at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Ighalo scored two goals and provided an assist in Nigeria’s 3-2 win against defending champions Cameroon – in the Round of 16 encounter at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday.
The Shanghai Shenhua of China striker who was also named man of the match after the game is now joint top scorer in the competition, alongside Senegal’s Saido Mane.
Shehu Abdullahi has featured in one game for the Super Eagles in Egypt due to injury.

“It is a good thing to receive a big award like this from Nigeria’s number one leading sports paper and website. I thank the management of the company and I hope to win more of this in future, “Ighalo told Completesports.com.
An elated Abdullahi also showed his appreciation on receiving the award.
“I want to thank Complete Sports for this big award. I am happy and this will spur me to continue working hard on the pitch,” the Bursaspor defender said.

Meanwhile the curtains came down on a wonderful women’s world cup with USA picking up the trophy for a record 4th time.
I hope some of the conspiracy theorists on this forum who claim FIFA hates Africa, also took time to follow the rest of the tournament after the our ouster. I hope you all saw how the rules of FIFA applied to all teams irrespective of continental affiliations.
The earlier we braced ourselves up for being worthy to compete at the global stage the better for us. It was such a shame that even basics of football like understanding the rules still eludes us.
Worse still are the fans who neither take time to understand the game or update themselves, but would rather revile in consoling themselves with all sorts of conspiracy theories. “…Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery…”
And how does Shehu deserve an award when I am yet to see how good he is as a right back Mumuni must stop all this dirty nepotism. What happened to Etebo who has been consistent?anyway I hope it is an award as par their sponsorship and participation of the celebrity work out as stated above and got nothing to do with on pitch performance with regards to Shehu!

The story does not have anything to do with total nations cup 2019..
It’s just a gift for a team which igalo and abdulahi are entitled to.. But because the two players are not around while other received the gift.. That is why they brought the gift to Egypt for them..
Simple as that..
Musa, mikel and others in the team during the time the award was due have all collect their own except this igalo and abdulahi….
