Iheanacho Backs Leicester City To Break More Records

Leicester City will keep breaking records to make this a bumper Christmas for the club’s fans, Kelechi Iheanacho has promised.

Leicester City have made a fine start to the festive season, Iheanacho scoring a dramatic late winner against Everton on the first day of Advent before the club continued their winning run with victories over Watford and Aston Villa.

Iheanach was handed his first league start of the campaign at Villa Park on Sunday, and he repaid Brendan Rodgers’ faith with a goal and an assist in the 4-1 triumph.

That victory saw City set a new club-best for consecutive top-flight wins and more records are on their way, Iheanacho has said, with Rodgers’ side keen to spread the Christmas cheer.

“It’s very good to be a part of this great squad,” the 23-year-old striker told LCFCTV. “I’m happy to be part of it and going forward we have fantastic players and great quality.

“Everyone is buzzing, everyone is happy. It’s a fantastic record and we have a great manager and great staff.

“I feel we can win the next game and we’ll keep going and get more records.

There have been good Christmas presents so far, we’ll keep going and get more wins.”

Having also netted in the Carabao Cup wins over Luton and Burton, Iheanacho is averaging a goal once every 44 minutes this term.

He is pleased to be making an impact.

“On a personal level, I’m excited, scoring again and assisting Jamie [Vardy], so I just need to keep going and keep the level up, working hard in training to make sure I keep my head up,” he said on the Villa win.

“It was a great performance from the whole team. I think we were all over them. We stuck to our plan and got spaces all over the place and we got the goals so it’s brilliant

“We’ve been great this season, we just need to keep going, keep our heads down. This one is done now and we’re looking forward to the next game.”
