Iheanacho Is Unplayable At The Moment – Clinton Morrison

Former Sheffield Wednesday striker, Clinton Morrison, says the current form of Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has made him unplayable in the Premier League.

The Nigerian international scored one and produced an assist in Leicester City 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in Monday’s Premier League game, to maintain their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Iheanacho, who had struggled since his £25m move from Manchester City in 2017 due to being stuck behind Jamie Vardy in the pecking order for a team who played with a lone striker, has now scored 14 goals in his last 14 Premier League games.

Iheanacho’s goal against Palace, a remarkable bring down, turn and finish, was the mark of a player in elite form and playing with the utmost confidence.

“This guy is unplayable at the moment,” former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison said on Matchday Live on Optus Sport. “When you are scoring goals like that as a striker, you believe you are going to score every game. He has been the difference for Leicester for the last few months.”

  • All he needed was a run of games to bring out the best in him. Leicester are used to playing with a one striker formation. But since injuries forced them to play with two strikers up front, their productivity in terms of goals has improved. Kele and vardy playing off each other has made the difference and kele is reaping the benefit of this new formation which favours him as he doesn’t have that much attention on him, which allows him to play his game and give his best. All the best to him and Leicester. There is still more work to be done

    • Sure, kels is not an out-and-out striker, but he is devastating in and around the box 18! He thrives playing off a main striker, look at his u17 days, his combo with Success and Awoniyi-2 similar strikers was too much for all opposition… I believe that SE will benefit more from any of Osimhen/Iheancho, Moffi/Iheancho, Sadiq/Iheancho partnerships…

In a situation Iheanacho is not available who partners the other in the super eagles attack?

If he is not available, our strikers can also function as lone strikers. Either Victor,Simmy, Sadiq, Onuachu, Moffy. All can also play solo with good wingers or midfidders. So no issue at all.

        • Just as ikeben had stated in his response, the strikers that Iheancho will pair can all function as lone strikers… We don’t have issues in that regard. Ultimately, we need to sort out our midfield issues and also have capable replacements for our oyinbo wall…
