Former Nigerian forward, Victor Ikpeba has kicked against the call by some Nigerians and ex-internationals demanding the sack of Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles coach.
Recall that after the team’s shocking loss against the Central Africa Republic (CAR) in a 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, there was call for Rohr’s resignation.
The German tactician who has been with the Super Eagles since 2016, has been criticized for not making positive impacts in the senior national team in terms of winning titles.

However, Ikpeba during Monday Night Football Programme on Supersports, said that Rohr has done enough to remain as coach of the Super Eagles.
“Gernot Rohr must stay put as Super Eagles manager because I am a big fan of him. Some people said he has stayed for five years and not won anything, But I have so much confidence in him.”

Ikpeba don change mouth ni? All these Ex-Internationals just know how to be on the headlines shaaaa… Mark this day, I hope your support is TRUE TO THE BONE MARROW.
You need to pass around that water wey you use wash your eyes, give it to your other ex-internationals who hate GR for doing what they could not do.
I also want him to take us to both nations cup and world cup since we have decided not to wake up.
CAR coach has displayed the role of a good coach and we refuse to recognise it.
No doubt Rohr has tried his best and we really appreciate that. But by now, Nigeria should be talking of how to win Nations Cup and reach quarter final if not semi final in world cup next year.
Since we are now okay with the qualification for the two competitions. My advice for people that has high blood pressure is to be careful in watching eagles games if it’s Rohr that will take eagles to the two competitions.
This reminds me of a song in one of the Yoruba movies titled Shaworoide. The words of the song is as follow: “They can’t understand, they will understand tomorrow ”
Six years of coaching Eagles with no cup to show. No single pattern of playing football with zero tactics.
God bless Nigeria.
You have spoken well, mr Ikpeba. The truth can never be hidden. However, It clearly seems whenever any of these useless ex criket internationals want attention or want to seek relevance after they’ve spent so many years in self inflicted penury and misery, they’d just go to the media and start vomiting garbage about rohr. Just say one thing aginst rohr and bam, the media would air ur name and u shall be remembered. From the known ex cricket internationals to recently one that called himself fufu abi fuolodo who has been silent for the past 2 centuries. Lol….. Any way, make una no vex eh. Very soon, rohr go leave una football for una to manage, na then una go know say rohr na the best thing ever to happen to nigerian football. In fact, i dont even know why he’s still wasting time on the job bcs if i were him, i would’ve just resigned long ago, make i have some peace and go were my handwork shall be much appreciated and valued. Lest i forget, una belmadi thin god was beating by burkinafaso over the weekend and they sit second in their group as a result while his “boy” (rohr) sits on top of their group. Make una applaud the master belmadi…
Rohr is the best thing that ever happened to Nigerian football? Sure about that? Seems a bit of a stretch to me, that statement.
someone who is currently staying at the top of the group qualifying table has not done enough for the past 5ys who has arguably assembled the best team in africa at the moment with some players switching their allegiance to nigeria someone who has instill discipline in the team someone who has only lost one competitive match for the past one yr is not good enough not realy suprise though some pple psychoneumetic need to be checmated and evaluated
Pls can u explain more what u mean by “has not done enough”. I really need to undersatnd. Is that we have not qualified for afcon the third time since he came on board or that our world cup qualifying hopes are under threat or we are languishing at the middle of the table like some african heavy weights like algeria, cameroun and ghana? Pls, enlighten me, i really need to know what you mean. Or are u just talking bcs others are talking.???
Read in context.
Nnamdi- someone who is currently staying at the top of the group qualifying table has not done enough for the past 5ys?
He is inferring that Rohr is actually doing well considering the fact that we are topping our group.
Read his write up again bro!! He is asking a question, though he didnt separate his write ups with a comma or ended the questions with a question mark!! But he is saying something positive about the achievements of coach Rorh!!
it seems that u lack respect and home training so i am talking bcos others are talking
They may come and say Algeria,Cameroon and Ghana are not in a tough group like Nigeria. The last time Nigeria was in the same group with Algeria, Cameroon this same man dusted them and qualified with a game to spear same with South Africa with Nation cup qualification and the same Rohr beat them to qualify. Also in the Nations cup proper he defeated both Cameroon and Same South Africa respectively to qualify for semi final where he eventually lost to Algeria narrowly that was the match some fans will not stop talking about till today, they even named him Belmadi boys. Surprised to see the almighty Algeria as they usually called them lost to Burkina Faso yesterday. I hope some of them will learn that football could be funny at times. That is what we are saying nobody is happy that SE eagles lost to CAR even Rohr could not be happy but it is what it is and nobody can do anything about one just have to move which was exactly what the SE did in return in Cameroon.
Disrespectful statement from Arnaut Danjuma about him playing for Nigeria.
Wow. I don’t think the NFF should beg players again, if their heart is with the team then come play for us without being persuaded or begged. I hope you make the WC so you don’t regret all these sweet talking due to your second call up in 3 years.
Namibia is giving Senegal a real fight 1-1 with all the senegalese stars on parade. African football won’t be easy in the next few years…..
@footballfanatic Sebi it’s some of you that usually abuse Rohr and NFF of not doing enough to cap those guy. Just a few days ago some were condemning the coach of not having a good midfielder in the likes of Ejaria,Eze,Lookman etc
@tayo To be honest I don’t understand what you are saying. Is it wrong to criticize the NFF of not doing enought to cap a players who is willing??? Abi you don’t have a grasp of reading comprehension to understand that I said players that are willing not the ones that are reluctant. Fools like you just like to spill bs.
Only a foolish coach will come to Nigeria after hearing that Gernot Rohr has been working 8 months without pay.
I understand the situation you found yourself Mr. Ikpeba. Saying the truth is not easy. Am also facing the same thing on this forum but I never relents. The pressure is too much for you because you said the bitter truth to Nigerians. NFF won’t like that though but you have to be yourself.
This is how our system is running and only God can protect us in this country.
They asked you to go out there again and praise the coach but the truth already bn told, Oga Rohr Super Eagles can not compete with top teams in the world period.
You have done your part and we patriotic Nigerians, we are few in numbers but we should remember that we have to keep fighting for our fatherland no matter what.
Amaju, NFF and Oga Rohr fans, history will remember you all that is for sure.
Oga Rohr followers, I hope you are happy now because that is what you people wanted to hear.
Sweet talk but when Super Eagles reaching Qfinals or semis and they send the team packing again then you people will understand.
Naija people, I hail you. Putting pressure on this man won’t help Super Eagles to be super again. We have to be honest with ourselves. God bless Nigeria!!!
