In-Form Iheanacho Has Four Goals Nominated For Leicester City Goal Of The Month Award

Kelechi Iheanacho is in the running for Leicester City Goal of the Month prize for March, reports Completesports .com.

In-form Iheanacho has four goals up for the monthly award – efforts against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion, plus two of his three strikes in the 5-0 triumph over Sheffield United – as the Nigerian netted seven times in March for the Foxes.

Efforts from outside the area for Ayoze Pérez, also against the Blades, and Youri Tielemans, in the Emirates FA Cup success over Manchester United, complete the first team representation in the 10-goal shortlist.

While City’s men are third in the Premier League, LCFC Women remain top of the FA Women’s Championship after securing three crucial wins in March, leading to a trio of strikes also being nominated for the Goal of the Month prize.

Shannon O’Brien’s second in a 7-0 victory at London Bees, Esmee De Graaf’s long-range stunner later on, and Sam Tierney’s opener at Durham Women are also in contention, as well as Kasey McAteer’s effort for the Club’s Development Squad against West Ham United Under-23s.

It is a pity he wasn’t commended by Nigerian fans because he didn’t score against Lesotho. Dude was directly involved in all the 3 goals scored against Lesotho. And I will want the coach to continue playing with two strikers because it has worked well even for Paul. He may not have gotten the time and space to take that beautifully struck volley if he was the point man with two centre backs marking him.

Who else has also noticed that the 4-4-2 formation has helped the Super Eagles not to concede a goal in the two games? It was this same formation that Algeria used to win the prebious Afcon without conceding much goals. They even used same against Nigeria and recorded a clean sheet. The 4-4-2 and 3-5-2 formation is the ideal formation for the Super Eagles.

  • I think my pick of the bunch was the volley against Burnley, now that was a beautiful strike.

  • Playing two strikers has always been profitable for the Super Eagles, during the 2013 Afcon it was two strikers, now it seems coach rohr wants to revisit that style of play. But I must mention when using two strikers they both have to be very dynamic and have good understanding of each other. It helps if they both have pace and skill and are good finishers. We have had some good strike partnership in the Super Eagles team. Yekini-amokachi, kanu-agali, emenike-ideye, I hope we can form another formidable strike partnership in the team again.
