Danny Ings is eager to get going for Southampton after putting in the hard yards over the summer to be in the best possible shape. Having endured an injury-hit few years at Liverpool, the 26-year-old joined Saints on loan last season, bagging seven Premier League goals from 24 appearances and has now penned permanent terms at St Mary’s.

The man capped once by England moved from Anfield for £18million and will hope to resurrect his career on the south coast. It seems as though he is determined to make a success of it under Ralph Hasenhuttl and has been doing all he can since the end of last season to make sure he hits the ground running in 2018-2019. “I think it was very important coming back with a solid base for this season,” he told the Daily Echo.
“Last year was a bit up and down for me. “When I came down from Liverpool I wasn’t 100 per cent fit and you could see that from my performances. “That was the reason why I had a few niggles, so it was important for this year that I put in a lot of work during the off-season before returning for pre-season. I’m just really looking forward to starting.”
