Injured Kalu Out Until 2021

Nigeria defender Samuel Kalu is expected to remain on the sidelines until 2021 due to injury, reports Completesports.com.

Kalu copped an injury on international duty with Nigeria in October and missed four league matches before returning to action against Stade Rennes last month.

The 23-year-old suffered a replapse on the injury during the game and was replaced on the hour mark.

Bordeaux manager Jean-Louis Gasset provided update on Kalu and Laurent Koscienly’s injuries ahead of Sunday’s clash against Lille.

“The news fell on Monday, they had an MRI. We were very optimistic, unfortunately I must have been disillusioned… The exams revealed a lesion for both (Kalu and Laurent Koscienly). Minimal lesions but which require ten or fifteen days of rest,” Gasset stated.

Kalu has scored two goals in seven league appearances for Bordeaux this season.

  • Kalu is too injury prone for God’s sake. Its time Rohr searched for a perfect replacement or backup so that we S.E will not be found wanting again in critical moments like the last AFCON . I dont think moses simon, denis and the ones we already have have the requisite skill set to penetrate opponents defences like Kalu.

Kalu is not less than 30 years… When players get older injuries may become often.

Hahaha soro m chiaa nwanne… This poster sef.from Winger to defender

  • I dont think rohr is interested in finding replacements for those players who are out injured because when you have a player like ejuke and you prefer to use an ”experienced” Musa who hasnt produced ANYTHING useful for the team in a long while then you know that the coach isn’t interested in finding able replacements.

  • And ejuke is a fine play

    What are you guys saying?
You didn’t watch the Sierra Leone match?
    Don’t make me laugh, biko
The same ejuke that’s yet to score a single goal in his last ten appearances, though playing in the same Russian league Musa is revered as a god. Lol
Ejuke has potentials, that’s obvious. But I will prefer lookman ahead of him.

Rohr and is crew are verry difficult to understand, and immediately you and i miss understands thieir nest moves believe me it’s always expected to be failed moves, but when he does things normal and simple the eagles always fly high, abnormal things doesn’t work for eagles players and fans, especially unecesary decisions it irritates us and our players doesn’t function well, rohr should simply stay normal, for example akpoguma for right back is abnormal, continually invitation of a basketball player ahead of real strikers is abnormal, playing musa for four straight matches ahead of ejuke with nothing to show for it is abnormal, that’s what he did to osihmen and onyekuru (wen this guy’s where in same Belgium scoring high figures they never got the chance Rohr have given the basketballer from Denmark) is that not abnormal? Prior to afcon onyekuru had scored 2 goals for eagles and gave 2 assist yet he was abnormally ignored in the bench, during afcon the funniest part of the abnormalities, is that when ever Rohr brings in ejuke or onyekuru in few minutes to go, he removes for them chukueze when he knows chukueze is his only constant threat from that right wing at the moment and the only player who can pose similar threat from that same wing is kalu him self, ejuke and onyekuru are not known to be functional from that right wing, they are left wingers that likes to cut into their right foot and shot, that is where they are known to be explosive, why can’t Rohr simply do the normal thing by replacing musa with ejuke on time at list not less than 35 minutes late, same with onyekuru or even playing ejuke ahead of musa is not bad, I don’t trust rohr if he claimed ejuke is not good enough bcos this was thesame thing he said abt osihmen a year ago. It’s not a difficult thing to do when simple and normal formation of 4 3 3 with the right players in their right wings gave u a draw against Ukraine and Brazil and victory against Benin and Lesotho, why return to the abnormalities(akpoguma for rightback)? By the way what goal do you want from unuocho? Is your team not scoring enough? Why must it be a player who have been given enough chances without nothing in a nation with alot strikers one even scored 17 and gave 17 assist last year what is happening here hallooooo! We had a defensive labs from the central deffenders, ekong omeruo/ ajayi are not doing bad but not good enough and our only guanrantee is balogun which is not good enough for the eagles and then you brought in one akpoguma and everybody where curious to see a new central defender partner balogun, why did he come up with is abnormal right back idea, did we ever complained our right back? Was it not left back that was an issue but never a serious issue bcos jamilu and aina could cover that left back, luckily we had sanusi wish made things easier but wetin con concern right back?
My simple advice for that oldman is this, we understand that you are not good enough but we have decided to continue managing you bcos we don’t have enough money. Please don’t be trying what you don’t know, keep it simple the best players for each wings and when one wing is not functioning replace it with the second best option. At list if you fail we will blame the players alone, nor use your own oversabi take spoil two afcon for our eye.

If Union berlin vs bayern Munich game that I watched is anything to go by, I can say SE had finally found a real player who can deputize for osihmen in the person of Taiwo Awoniyi. The guy was a menace to the Bayern Munich defense. His hold up play was terrific, and his constant runs were a delight to behold. However, there are other area of his game that needs to be worked on but the young man is finally leaving up to the expectation of the player that bust into the world scene at WC U-17 many years ago.

Yes… I agree with you. Awoniyi is a starter for Union Berlin in Bundesliga… I think he needs to be called up going forward. His all round play is good.

  • Awoniyi needs to score more goals. He is playing regularly now so he needs to justify any invitation sent to him. If he had maintained his form and chosen a club that fits his style and not just a big name club, he would have been the one leading SUPER EAGLES attack now. But he missed his chance and osimhen overtook him.
So he needs to work hard to get back into reckoning.
Anyway, my pick for the next invitation to the Super Eagles is sadiq umar. A complete attacker thats fast, skilful, and strong. He scores and creates goals, he wins penalties and he is experienced. He will be a better fit and challenge to victor osimhen than paul onuachu. All he needs is a chance.
