Portugal boss Jorge Jesus has moved quickly to defuse mounting speculation, insisting that he has no personal rift with Cristiano Ronaldo following the forward’s abrupt exit from Portugal’s training camp.
The incident sent shockwaves through European football after Ronaldo walked out on the squad following a reported disagreement over starting status and a missed training session, a move that has left the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) weighing a potential one-to-one-month suspension under disciplinary codes.

Speaking publicly on the situation, Jesus sought to pour cold water on reports of a bitter personal fallout between the two Portuguese football icons.
“I told Cris that for the matches in Norway and Denmark that he would not play.
“I worked with Cris for a year previously at Al Nassr. I didn’t just arrive three months ago and meet him for the first time.
“I know his physical condition. When there were matches every three days, Cris rarely played, and he never trains on the first and second day after a game anyway.
“We agreed on this. He never refused this and there’s no rift between us.”

While defending Ronaldo’s unmatched competitive drive, Jesus maintained that team protocol and respect for collective preparation remain paramount.
Despite the manager’s attempts to downplay the drama, the FPF’s internal disciplinary review remains active, leaving the football world waiting to see whether official sanctions will still be levied against the veteran forward.
