Croatia’s legendary midfielder Luka Modric has spoken about his future with the national team after leading his country to a third-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 37-year-old won his 162nd cap in the 2-1 win over Morocco, four years after helping his country to the World Cup runners-up spot behind France.
Croatia will now attempt to win the Nations League title next June in the four-team finals also featuring Netherlands, Italy and Spain.
The Real Madrid midfielder spoke about his future with Croatia after the match, and ruled out an immediate retirement, at least for now.
“It may be my last game in a World Cup but I can’t say anything,” Modric told Gol Mundial as quoted by MARCA.
“But of course I am very happy with my career for Croatia. Winning two medals is very important. My dream was to win the cup, it didn’t happen but I am very happy.
“We will see what happens l, want to continue until the Nations League and then we see what happens “
