Alex Iwobi was named Everton’s Man of the Match in their 1-0 win against Fleetwood Town, in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Iwobi was announced as Everton’s most outstanding player on the club’s Twitter handle.
The Super Eagles star was impressive for Frank Lampard’s side as he set up Demarai Gray for the only goal of the game.

It is great to see Iwobi is turning his career around. The prayers of the people have been following your progress. I and I want you to continue working hard. Heaven bless Iwobi and all deserving Eagles players.
Iwobi will be Super Eagles Ronadinho , I recommend Peseiro to put Iwobi as number 10 than Joe Aribo because Iwobi has a sharp eyes for playing in depth or in deep center foward he grant through balls for SE strikers especially Osimhen. So Peseiro must take care on this tactical process.
Iwobi is a solid footballer alongside Etebo but doesn’t get enough credit from local fans back home in Nigeria. As for Etebo he’s been unlucky with injury.
My brother biko change the narrative. You supposed to say that Etebo was solid alongside Iwobi. Don’t give Etebo praise he doesn’t deserve jare.
@Unique, that’s the English “Praise he doesn’t deserve” indeed.
Until I see his performance against any solid team like he did against Sao Tome before I can see him as a solid player. Sao Tome is not a team to boast of our under 20 can beat them. I was so disappointed the last 2 times I watched Etebo in Watford color. The body was So stiff like former arsenal player (Frimpong), he had to be substituted before they can play something meaningful. And I don’t want to hear that he played well during 2018 world cup, that was 4 years ago already.
Everyone has their favourites Etebo is one of mine kindly respect my choice because we can’t not share the same judgment.
Ndidi, Iwobi and Aribo should play at the midfield, Aribo who is an attacking midfielder should play more like a supportive striker
@felix, the problem with using a midfield trio of ndidi, Iwobi, and aribo is twofold:
first, it will mean super eagles are not playing to their strength. Our full midfield is thinner in numbers and quality compared to our strikers alone. Super eagles plethora of strikers is our advantage, our edge against others. Our options are so stack full that the golden boot of the Belgian league was not called up and nobody moved an eyelid. To win in competition, you build your strategy on asymmetry, that is, the difference between you and your competitors. “You must press where you have advantages and sidestep situations in which you don’t.”
Second, with all our best midfielders on the pitch, we, respectfully speaking, have almost zero quality on the bench. The side effect? Low competition for spots. Who can “threaten” Iwobi’s no8 role? A Frank Onyeaka that don’t have up to fifty minutes of a possible 360 minutes. While Iwobi has played all the minutes while amazing performances.
That’s why the 442 formation is the best because it plays to our strength. With the number of forwards at our disposal, doing well in their various leagues, super eagles can maintain an attacking pose in our games.
Super Eagles all the way!!!
@Kingston, I quite understand your submission. my reason for suggesting a midfield trio of Ndidi, Iwobi and Aribo is because it helps in controlling the game to our advantage. Aribo is not just a midfielder, he is an attack minded midfielder and also a reliable goal scorer. so, we can have a formidable midfield and also be on the offensive upfront.
Good analysis bro
