Iwobi Thanks NFF, Teammates; Ready For Action Against Lesotho

Alex Iwobi says he is ready for action once again after he was cleared by CAF for today’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Lesotho, reports Completesports.com.

Iwobi missed Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Benin Republic last Saturday after testing negative to Covid-19

The Everton winger however took another test on Monday which came out negative.

He is now available for selection again after he was cleared by CAF for the dead rubber clash at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

“I want to say thank you to everyone showing me love and support during this difficult time,” Iwobi told the NFF media channel.

“Your love has been quite overwhelming and I really appreciate it. I have to respect the Fifa and Caf protocols by isolating in my room.

“I mean it wasn’t easy especially knowing when you have no symptoms and you are okay but the main thing is that I am healthy and ready to go for the last game.

“I will like to say a big thank you to the NFF president [Pinnick], he took me like a son, made sure I was able to isolate comfortably.

“Also a thank you to my teammates, to the staff, the coach, they are always checking up on me and made sure I was okay. I am ready to go for the last game let’s see if we can stay unbeaten. Up Super Eagles!”

Definitely at the end of proceedings you shall remain unbeaten,I trust you will, though not underrating your opponent for today’s encounter.
We missed you against the republic of Benin.Your sublime pass, flair, quick thinking and ability to unlock stubborn defences with your body movements and passes. We are thrilled you are available for selection and should prove a handful to a side rated 143 in the world by Fifa.

Nice wan. We need everybody in good health.
BTW, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that many foreign based players like Iwobi, Aina, Ekong, Ajayi, etc actually understand broken English. Ajayi confessed to liking okro soup (ila alasepo in yoruba). He pronounced ila alasepo perfectly, like a proper yoruba boy. I was shocked.
These guys understand broken very well. To speak it though is another matter 🙂
