James Set For Summer Exit

Chelsea defender Reece James has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for fellow Premier League outfit Burnley. England Under-20 international James, who has yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues, is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Championship side Wigan Athletic.

The 19-year-old has turned out 38 times in the league for the Latics, scoring one goal in the process, and his performances are helping Wigan hold their survival hopes in their own hands, three points clear of the relegation zone in 19th place with eight games remaining.

James’ long-term future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear and it is claimed he could be sold permanently this summer if an acceptable offer comes in. Burnley are believed to be showing an interest in the full-back’s services as manager Sean Dyche looks to add some youth to his defensive options, having struggled at the back this season.

The Clarets, along with a host of Championship clubs, are ready to rest Chelsea’s resolve with reports claiming an offer £1.5million will be enough to tempt the Blues into selling.
