Rivers United support striker, Wasiu Jimoh, has dedicated his goal against Remo Stars in Wednesday’s rescheduled NPFL matchday-one fixture at Yakubu Gowon Stadium to his parents and supporters of the Pride of Rivers, Completesports.com reports.
Jimoh scored in the fourth of the additional five minutes to hand the 10-man Stanley Eguma’s charges a pyrrhic 1-0 win against Kennedy Boboye’s battling team.
It was Jimoh’s second in five games since joining Rivers United from FC Ifeanyiubah prior to the start of the current 2018/2019 abridged NPFL season.
“It was an important goal for us,” said the forward who was converted to a right-back at FC Ifeanyiubah last season.
“It helped us to collect the three points. It was a very difficult match and we even played one-man down.
“So, I’m dedicating it to my parents back home in Kwara State.
“I’m also dedicating the goal to Rivers United supporters who have continued to stand behind us even during difficult games like this.
“They kept lifting our spirits with their support.”
The dark skinned forward is shy of setting a specific goal tally this term.
” Throughout last season, I played in the defense while at FC Ifeanyiubah,” Jimo added.
“Now I’m back to my normal position in attack.
“Hopefully, I will take my target to double digit this season.”
Rivers United are top on Group A on eight points and will travel to Enyimba for Sunday’s NPFL matchday-six fixture.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
