Johnson ‘Buzzing’ With New Salford Deal

Josh Johnson said he was “buzzing” to sign a new contract which will keep him at Salford Red Devils for the 2020 Super League season. The 25-year-old former Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR forward only joined from Championship side Barrow Raiders in July and has helped them close in on a top-five finish.

Indeed, Ian Watson’s side have won their last three matches, including Thursday’s 22-6 victory against Warrington, which moved them level on points with the Wire in second place. When asked about the decision to pledge his future to the club for another 12 months, Johnson told the club’s website: “I’m buzzing about it. I’m glad the deal’s done and I can just focus on playing now.

“I’ve enjoyed working with Watto [Watson] and getting to know the boys. “We’ve gone on a bit of a winning streak and it’s great to be part of it.” He added: “Watto’s given me belief that I can do it at the top level and I just want to keep training hard and playing well for him. “I’m just going to keep working and I’m sure there’s plenty more to come.

“The squad’s looking good for next year, with some good signings coming in and lads who are going to step it up another level.”
