Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder, Charlie Adam, has blamed Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson for not passing the ball to Taiwo Awoniyi for a golden opportunity to score during their Premier League home match against Chelsea.
The Tricky Trees held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at City Ground Nottingham on Sunday, January 1.
Raheem Sterling (16′) and Serge Aurier (63′) scored in the match for Chelsea and Nottingham Forest respectivey.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Adam
insisted that Awoniyi had a clear chance to score, but Johnson failed to pass to him.

That hopeful scoring chance was fluffed in the fourth minute of the second half when Johnson’s run with the ball on the right side had Awoniyi well position to receive a pass and shoot at goal. He decided to go for the goal himself, and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga made an easy save.
“That’s exactly what Nottingham Forest wanted, for Johnson to be one-on-one with Azplicueta,” Adam said.
“He went for the shot and tries to be greedy when he could have squared it to Awoniyi, and Kepa makes an easy save.”
Johnson has a total of two goals in 17 Premier League appearances this term and Awoniyi has three goals in 15 games.
Nottingham Forest have amassed 14 points from 17 Premier League games and are in the 18th position.
Nottingham Forest face Southampton next on Wednesday, January 4 at St Mary’s Stadium.

That was poor and selfish of Johnson,I felt sorry for Awoniyi who was rightfully gutted not to have scored against Chelsea.
Had Johnson passed the ball to onrushing Awoniyi who was clear on goal, that goal would have meant a lot to Awoniyi as well boosted his confidence level to achieve more.
Chelsea two times champions league winners are a great side every striker would cherish scoring against.
