Summer signing Jota claims he has found it easy to settle at Aston Villa because he is “comfortable with the style of play”. The 28-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder crossed the divide earlier in the transfer window when he left Birmingham for Second City rivals Villa on a two-year deal.
Jota worked with Villa boss Dean Smith when he was in charge at Brentford and that was one of the main reasons behind his decision to move to Villa Park, on top of the chance to play Premier League football. The former Celta Vigo man has impressed so far in pre-season and he claims the style of play which Smith favours is ideal for him.
Jota told the Villa website: “I’m very happy with the team principles, to take the ball, work with it, because that’s my favourite style to play. “I feel more comfortable with this because the team always want to play that style. “I’ve settled very well, I’m very happy to be here. I feel comfortable with the style of play. “Since the manager called I knew I wanted to come here, because I know the way he likes to play football is the way I like, it is similar.
I am very happy to work with him. “It was a good time at Brentford, I know him very well and I feel I want to give back to him with the confidence he has put in me.” Jota added: “Really I am feeling in my best moment now. I have more experience now, I have played a lot of games, and I feel this is good a moment to have this opportunity at such a big club.”
