Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu is delighted to make his first appearance for his French Ligue 1 club Girondins Bordeaux after eight weeks on Saturday at the Matmut Atlantic stadium reports Completesports.com.
The Nigerian international last featured for his team in their 1-1 stalemate against Monaco on March 9.
Kalu suffered a thigh hamstring injury that ruled him out from his club’s last ten games but he returned as a second-half substitute in Girondins Bordeaux’s 1-0 home loss to Reims on the final league game of the season.
Suk Hyun Jun scored a second-minute goal for Reims who finished ninth in the Ligue 1 season.
The Nigerian international came on for Francois Kamano in the 61st minute of the encounter and made two successful dribbles.
“Guess who is back. Amazing feeling to be back on the pitch,” Kalu wrote on Instagram.
“Not the result we want yesterday but we have to keep on working hard. God over everything.”
The game was Kalu’s 19th Ligue 1 appearances and has scored three goals and provided three assists.
Girondins Bordeaux finished 14th in the Ligue 1 table with 37 points from 38 games.
Kalu is one of the ten forwards named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations tournament in Egypt.
The three-time African champions are in Group B along with Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar.
The 21-year-old made a breakthrough into Nigeria’s national side in October 2018, shortly after joining French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux from Belgian outfit Gent.

My guy we used to be on the same page, but I must say we are not on this one. Kalu is a talented player more than chuba as far as wing position is consign, they are no match. In super eagles this guy when fit poses attacking threat as a winger more than Musa, Musa is good when he plays as a false no 9 in number a 3 5 2 formation .
Kalu is by far a better player than Chuba. Again you cannot compare the French league and the Greek league in terms of quality. The English Championship (2nd division) is also of greater quality and standard not to talk of the premiership. Meanwhile, who will you drop for Chuba? Is it Osimhen, Onyekuru, Ighalo, Onuachu? Chuba has only scored 6 goals all season in the Greek league when the rest have scored double figures in tougher leagues and he is suppose to be top striker for POAK while Kalu is a winger. Chuba is simply just not good enough currently to make the squad.

Kalu was very vital in our qualifiers for the AFCON. He was one of the main reasons the SuperEagles are going back to the AFCON. He singlehandedly defeated Seychelles away and was very vital against South Africa away.
The fact remains that Chukwueze and Onyekuru including Osimhen at the moment are not guaranteed a spot in the SuperEagles first 11 until proven otherwise. Even though I believe they will all be the pillar of the SuperEagles in the immediate future. In terms of raw natural talents and share willpower Kalu is the real playmaker imho, and he’s the only one among them guaranteed a spot in the SuperEagles first 11 at the moment.
Kalu can play comfortably on either wings either as a wingforward or a wingback. He can also play as an attacking midfielder. His immense versatility is the reason he’s ahead of the trio at moment. And as for Chuba Akpom, He is good in attack.Had a great season .But he is not really as good as the people above ,and not really as good as the others called into the super eagles right now(at least in attack). you can only call as much strikers,there have to be space for other areas in the team. At least I can still believe Transfer market data than you. No official club has come out yet to price or pay $50 million for any of Onyekuru, Chukwueze or Osimhen. Everything is still speculations. Mbaye Diagne has scored 20 goals in only 17 appearances for Galatasaray while Onyekuru had 14 in 36 games. So how is he more valuable to his club? Toko Ekambi has scored 18 goals for Villarreal this season Gerardo Moreno had about 15 goals while Carlos Bacca scored almost the same goals. Chukwueze was just their at the right time while the team is in transition. I can still understand Onyekuru because he’s gotten the same number of years as Kalu in Europe. The French Ligue 1 alone being a top five league in the world. That alone makes Kalu more valuable than both Osimhen and Onyekuru at the moment and Chukwueze is only playing his first season in Europe. We still need to see how he performs in subsequent seasons before we can ascertain his immense talent.
