Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu made a second half introduction, but could not prevent Bordeaux from losing 2-0 away to Brest in the round of 16 of the French League Cup on Wednesday night, Completesports.com reports.
Kalu was brought on in the 64th minute, just a minute after Brest had doubled their lead.
Kalu’s Nigerian teammate Joshua Maja did not see action in the game as he was an unused substitute.
Brest opened scoring five minutes into the second half through Samuel Grandsir.
And in the 63rd minute, Gaetan Charbonnier made it 2-0 to guarantee Brest’s passage into the quarter-final.
And in another League Cup game on Wednesday, Moses Simon was in action for Nantes who fell 1-0 at home to Strasbourg.
The only goal of the game was scored by Nuno Da Costa with 12 minutes left in the game.
In Tuesday’s League Cup game, Victor Osimhen scored for Lille in their comfortable 3-0 away win against AS Monaco.
However, Osimhen was forced off after feeling unwell and was replaced by Loic Remy.

Anyone advicing Iheanacho to remain in Leicester can only get me to question his or her thought process. Such bundle of talent been made a bench warmer beats my imagination. Well it’s his life. I can only wish him the best. But there are bigger clubs even bigger than premiership clubs if not for money but definitely for quality in other parts of Europe. The wise ones will not wait for the spoon inside a pot of soup to turn into a hand before understanding that meat will disappear so quickly if action is not taken.
