Kane Ruled Out Until March

Tottenham’s Harry Kane has been ruled out until March with an ankle injury.

Scans have revealed the England captain,Kane damaged ligaments in his left ankle during Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United after competing for a loose ball with United duo Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof seconds before the final whistle.

Kane hobbled off the pitch, prompting manager Mauricio Pochettino to raise concerns over the injury post-match, with Heung-Min Son set to depart for the Asian Cup.

Kane will miss Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea on January 24, as well as the final which is due to take place on February 24 – should Spurs get there.

He is also likely to miss both legs of Spurs’ Champions League last-16 tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs, will also be without their second-leading goalscorer, Son Heung-Min (who is away at the Asian Cup for the next few weeks) while third-leading goalscorer Lucas Moura continues to deal with a knee problem.

Moussa Sissoko is out with a groin injury, while Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele are recovering from their own issues as well.

It leaves Fernando Llorente as Pochettino’s only recognised striker available for Spurs’ upcoming fixtures, having declared Vincent Janssen is not part of his plans.
