Kanu Attracted Nigerians, Africans To Arsenal – Anichebe

Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Anichebe has revealed that Kanu Nwankwo’s adventure in the colours of Arsenal made Africans and Nigerians support the club.

Anichebe, a product of Arsenal academy made this known in an interview with Premier League Productions, where he also said that Kanu’s mesmerizing skills and despite his height caught his attention.

Recall that the former Arsenal star recorded 273 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 54 goals while providing 29 assists.

Anichebe, who relished the rare opportunity of training alongside Kanu in the senior national team, posited that the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist has envious skills.

“I came into the national team with Kanu, kind of star-struck when I saw him. The long journey he had in his career in the Premier League,” Anichebe told Premier League Productions.

“He got a lot of Africans and Nigerians especially to support Arsenal not just for his performances on the pitch but his Foundation.

“He’s one that we love in our country especially. “

“He had an incredible touch for someone so tall, some people say he was lanky but he was deceptively strong as well and his general awareness for the game.

“He had so many other qualities he developed over the course of his career, for me it was a pleasure to train with him,” concluded Anichebe.

Victor Anichebe. One player I am ever so proud of. One not weighed down by the negatives of African ala Nigerian mentality but always loud about the positive. A player that always gave it his all everytime he wore the green white green, so much so that if not for injury problems would have surely fitted perfectly into Yekini Yeking’s boot. A player promised by Fabio Capello to make him a main stay at 3 lions if he chose England but refused because all he wanted was to play for his fatherland he is so proud of, despite not really benefitting anything from same fatherland. THIS IS THE TRUE MENTALITY EVERY NIGERIAN SHOULD HAVE. THOSE SECOND CLASS ENGLISH/GERMAN, OR WHATEVER BOYS/ GIRLS HAVE HONESTLY, GOT NOTHING TO OFFER. SO I N I CAN NEVER MISS OR REMEMBER THEM. Ever proudly nijja. God has a good/perfect reason for making I N I 1.
