Kanu, Okocha More Skillful Than Many English Players -Terry

Former Chelsea defender, John Terry has described Austin Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu as two of the most skillful and exceptional players to have ever graced the English Premier League.

Terry made this known in an interview with PUNCH Sports Extra, where he said that they are more skillful than many English players.

The England international also stated that Kanu and Okocha’s talents made it difficult for defenders to mark in the Premier League and Europe.

“One of the first Nigerians I against was Kanu, he had this way he used to drag the ball. As a defender, you always knew what he would do, but he was always very difficult to mark, you wouldn’t know who to stop him. Just like Brazilians, Nigerian players are very skillful, unlike English players.

“Kanu and Okocha were some of the most skillful players in the English Premier League, they played with flair and were difficult to stop.”

God bless you @ John Terry. One thing I know about the English person, is when they choose to be honest, they are high up there as pure Angels but when they choose to be dishonest, they wrestle the devil into submitting the bigger spoon. There is no middle ground amongst the English.
Anyway what Terry said above is very rife amongst English footballers/fans. They respect the Nigerian talent alot in this country. They will tell you, that it’s in our DNA. Nigeria not winning the world cup yet has Nothing to do with lack of talented players but everything to with our mindset/almost incurable administrative lapses. Nigeria footballers are inherently blessed with mercurial football skills, albeit that has over the years, being dying from amongst our local league players; whether due to bad coaching that foolishly seek to copy Western ideas of football or the fast disappearing street football amongst Nigerian kids, I really don’t know. Many of us couldn’t take our football as far as we could have because seeing the far more supreme skills players playing in our league displayed then, we could only but accept that those guys were better. But today, you watch most of our players play, you only wish you were of this present generation of players.

  • See this man oooo English players sabi football b4. All English players which kind many. Compare them with better countries players like Brazil abeg

    • I fully agree hence been always saying that, JJ And Kunu we really something that we might never see again in football, just that they were black and from africa. Personaly really greatest footballers are as follows Ronadhino, Nazario, JJ OkoCha, Kanu, zidane, Doctor Khumalo, Shoes Moshoeu, SAMSON sia Sia,. Those had it without even training.

When heavyweight footballer like John Terry talks about football skill, or knowledge of it, we have to listen; because he talks from experience
