Klopp putting Recent Defeats Behind Him

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool’s recent defeats and points tally are of no concern to him as he gets his team ready to play Brighton.

The Reds went through their first 20 league games unbeaten this term before a 2-1 defeat to title rivals Manchester City on January 3, followed by Monday’s FA Cup third round loss at Wolves.

As he prepares his side to face Brighton away from home, Klopp says he does not dwell on what has happened in the past as it does not matter.

“Statistics from the past have no relevance in the present because it is always different. We don’t think about the season before or 20 years ago.

“Two weeks ago I think everyone was so excited about the distance between [the teams at the top]. “We have now two games which we lost, which is not nice, but it is not a real problem because these games have gone as well.

“We only talk here [in the press conference] about the points and the distance, we never do that during the week [in training] because it is just not relevant.”
