Kompany Vows To Play On

Vincent Kompany says he will definitely play on next season but cannot say for sure whether it will be with Manchester City.

Kompany has admitted his future with City is uncertain after his stunning match-winner against Leicester on Monday night but the 33-year-old is adamant he is not ready to retire.

The Belgium international ensured City remain on course to retain the Premier League title with a brilliant 30-yard strike to see off the Foxes 1-0 on Monday night.

But the club captain, whose contract is up in the summer, then shed a few tears as he set out on the end-of-season lap of honour ahead of his team-mates. “I do not know at this point,” Kompany told Sky Sports when asked about his future.

But asked if he will retire, the Belgian said: “Absolutely not.

I am going to play.” Kompany has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, reduced to a bit-part role at City with Pep Guardiola unable to rely on him to remain fit.

However he is unlikely to be short of offers to play on, if his future is not with City.
