Veteran central defender Laurent Koscielny has joined Bordeaux in a 5m euros move from Premier League club Arsenal. The 33-year-old spent nine years with the Gunners, making 353 appearances in all competitions, but made it clear earlier this summer that he wanted to leave before the new campaign got under way.
The former France international refused to travel on a pre-season tour to the United States, with Arsenal suggesting they would take disciplinary action against the former Lorient man. However, that is unlikely to happen now as he has moved to Matmut Atlantique after passing a medical on Tuesday.
“We decided to sanction his move to Bordeaux once we agreed acceptable transfer terms,” Arsenal said in a statement. “We thank Laurent for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.”
