La Liga Pays 4th Year Remembrance Tribute To The Late Agbonavbare

The Spanish La Liga Santander has paid tribute to the late Super Eagles goalkeeper, Wilfred Agbonavbare, who passed on four years ago, reports Completesports.com.

Agbonavbare passed away on the 27th of January 2015 following a long battle with cancer at the age of 53.

Agbonavbare passed away #OnThisDay four years ago. ⚡🇳🇬. Always in our thoughts,” a tweet from the La Liga official twitter handle reads. 

Born on October 5, 1966, the former Super Eagles shot-stopper represented Nigeria at 1994 Africa Cup of Nations competitions in Tunisia and was a member of the squad at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

Agbonavbare capped 15 times by Nigeria also featured for New Nigeria Bank and BCC Lions in the Nigerian top flight division.

He moved to Spain in 1990 where he spent the rest of his career, starting with Rayo Vallecano and later with Ecija Balompie in Segunda División.
