LaLiga President Javier Tebas has strongly reiterated his call for strict financial oversight, economic controls, and absolute transparency across European football.
His comments come in the wake of widespread reports regarding the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Manchester City and their alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

Tebas emphasized that rigorous economic controls and uniform rules are fundamental to ensuring fair competition and safeguarding the long-term sustainability of the sport.
The LaLiga chief pointed back to his public warnings delivered as early as 2017 regarding “financial doping” and clubs leveraging massive external state resources, arguing that recent developments validate the need for tighter governance.

“What has happened, again shows that economic controls, transparency and the same rules for all are essential to protect football’s integrity and sustainability,” Tebas said in a lengthy post on social media.
While noting that official sanctions and final legal steps are still pending, Tebas stressed that the core issue revolves around making sure the exact same financial rules apply equally to every club.
