Meanwhile, Alaves head to Girona while Real Madrid desperately need a win at Real Betis
We are coming up to the halfway point in Spain’s La Liga campaign and this weekend promises to throw up some intriguing story lines. First up, this Friday night (11 January) Rayo Vallecano need all three points when they host Celta Vigo, while the following day Alaves visit Girona hoping to climb the table once again, and Real Madrid simply must avoid yet another crisis when they head to Real Betis on the Sunday.

Where should I be investing my money?
First up, the Friday night clash between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo. Rayo sit next to bottom in the league and are three points from safety, but can take heart from the fact that they have won their last two league outings – nevertheless, they still come in at just 1.36 to drop through the trap door come the end of the season.
Celta Vigo, by way of comparison, are dropping like a stone. The side is now down in 14th place and has not won any of their three most recent league encounters – if form does not pick up soon they could well be dragged into a relegation battle.
And while the betting is very close in this one, it is Rayo Vallecano who come in as the slight favourites to make it three wins on the bounce. You can more than double your money by backing the home side to take the points at 2.50, with Celta Vigo coming in only slightly higher at 2.70 – a draw would appear to be the least likely outcome and is priced accordingly at 3.40, according to Oddsshark.
And we are expecting the home side to carry on their recent winning streak. A narrow, 2-1 win for Rayo Vallecano comes in at 9.50, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$47.50 pay out, while you could more than quadruple your money by backing a combo bet of a home victory, coupled with both teams to score, at 4.75.
Alaves look to climb table again
The following day, Alaves head to struggling Girona also looking to make it three league wins in a row. Girona sit in the top half of the table but look to have hit a bump in the road – they are without a win in their last five league contests.
Alaves, meanwhile, sit fourth in the table and could even leapfrog Sevilla with a win here, depending on how other results go this weekend. Having won their last two league games, they may well be worth backing out at 17.00 to guarantee a top four finish this season.
Regarding this match, it is Girona who come in as the favourites to get back to winning ways. You can more than double your money backing the home side to take all three points at 2.30, while Alaves, despite that excellent recent form, are out at 3.30 to do the same – a draw comes in just under at 3.10.
And we are expecting the visitors to have the last laugh. A 1-0 win for Alaves comes in at 8.00, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$40 pay out, while a combo bet of an away win, coupled with a “No” to both teams scoring, is at 5.00.
Real Madrid need a win
And finally, Real Madrid visit Real Betis son Sunday night in what is a must win game for the European champions. Betis sit sixth in the table and are not in great form, taking just one point from their last two league outings.
Real Madrid, however, have also taken just one point from their last two outings and need to get back to winning ways. They are down in fifth place, a massive 10 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
Nevertheless, it is Madrid who come into this match as the favourites to get back to winning ways. You can more than double your money by backing the visitors to take the points at 2.05, while Betis are out at 3.30 to do the same – a draw is higher still at 3.60.
And Madrid should get the points they need. A 2-1 win for Los Blancos comes in at 8.50, while you can more than triple your money by backing a combo bet of an away win and both teams to score at 3.50.
