LaLiga: Chukwueze, Azeez Subbed On As Villareal Beat Granada Away, Boost Champions League Hopes; Omeruo, Awaziem Features In Leganes Away Draw

Super Eagles stars Samuel Chukwueze and Ramon Azeez were introduced in the second half for their respective clubs in Villareal’s 1-0 win at Granada, to strengthen their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League,Completesports.com reports.

Chukwueze came on in the 65th minute for his 29th appearance for Villareal this season while Azeez was introduced on 61 minutes for his 19th outing.

Gerard Moreno was the hero for Villareal after scoring the only goal of the game in the 11th minute.

It was Villareal’s third consecutive win since football returned to Spain.

Villareal remain seventh on 47 points and are now just two points off fourth position which is the Champions League spot.

For Granada, they occupy ninth position on 42 points and Friday’s defeat was their first since February.

And in another game, relegation threatened Mallorca and Leganes played 1-1 with Super Eagles duo Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem in action for the later.

It was a return to playing time for Omeruo who was benched in Leganes’ 2-0 loss at Barcelona few days back.

Omeruo featured for 90 minutes while Awaziem was replaced in the 81st minute.

Mallorca thought they had done enough to secure all three points after Salva Sevilla gave them the lead on ninth minute.

But with three minutes left Oscar Rodriguez equalised to earn his side a share of the spoils.

The draw leaves Leganes bottom on 24 points in the league table three points away from safety.
