Laliga Santander Fest – an online concert featuring artists and footballers, on Saturday raised €625,000 which will be used to support the fight against Coronavirus pandemic in Spain.
The Laliga Santander Fest, an initiative of Santander Bank and the Spanish league organisers featured some artists and footballers whose performances and speeches were streamed live online. Fans were appealed to donate to Banco Santander Foundation, for the funding of purchase of equipment in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus.
Proceeds from the Laliga Santander Fest will likely be bigger than the €625, 000 realised on Saturday as the organisers are open to receiving more donations until Sunday afternoon.
FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique who featured in the online show hailed the initiative, and expressed firm hope that the fight against Covid-19 will be a success with united efforts.

“Without training, at home and trying to stay in shape, it is not easy. We will get through it between all of us,” Pique said during the Laliga Santander Fest.
“It is a difficult situation, but doing something like what LaLiga is doing makes us feel proud of the players and the fans.
“It is something unique that means any Laliga fan is able to contribute their grain of sand. I am very happy to be able to participate in such an initiative.
“There is rivalry when we are on the field of play, but when people need us, we are united.
“There will be a cost, it is difficult, we will have difficult times. Others will suffer it in person, but we have to make it through together. We are all invincible together.”
