Lancashire Batsman Set For Exit

Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed will leave at the end of the season after the county opted not to renew his contract. The 22-year-old made his first-class debut for the Red Rose against Glamorgan in August 2015 and his form saw him earn a Test call up for England.

Hameed made three Test appearances for England in India, averaging nearly 44, in 2016 but has since struggled to maintain those levels. The batsman, who is now free to talk to other clubs, has spent the last month featuring for Lancashire’s second XI.

Lancashire said in a statement: “The club would like to thank Haseeb for all of his commitment and efforts since he made his first-class debut in the 2015 season, having come through the academy.”
