Lazio Close In On Slovakian Centre-Back

Lazio are closing in on a deal to sign Copenhagen’s Denis Vavro after the Danish club refused an £8million offer from Watford. Corriere di Roma claim the Biancoceleste are in pole position to sign the 23-year-old Slovakian defender in the coming days.

Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this week that Watford had tabled an £8million bid for the Slovakian that was not enough to tempt the Danish side to sell. Vavro made 50 appearances for Copenhagen in all competitions last season and was arguably one of their star men.

Roma and Atalanta have also shown interest in the the 6ft 3in tall defender, with Copenhagen initially looking for around £10.5million for the player. But they are thought to have softened their stance recently and could now accept a bid of around £9m in total, including bonus clauses.
