Serie A club Lazio will look to sign Nigeria forward Simy Nwankwo from Crotone this summer on a three- year contract.
Nwankwo, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will be a free agent in June when his three -year contract with Crotone will expire and Lazio are ready to bring hom back to the Italian top flight according to a report in Sportmediaset.
The 26-year-old was close to linking up with Belgian Jupiler League side Sporting Club Lokeren in January but the move fell through at the last minute.
This season, Nwankwo has scored 11 goals and recorded three assists in 26 Serie B appearances for Crotone.
The lanky forward previously had stints with Portuguese clubs, Portimonense Sporting Club and Gil Vicente FC.
The striker was called up to the Nigerian squad by head coach Gernot Rohr in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in May last year after impressing with Crotone.
He made his international debut for the Super Eagles in the 1–1 draw against DR Congo later that month and was named in Nigeria’s final 23 man squad for the mundial.
He has won four caps with Nigeria but is yet to score on the international scene.
