LeBron James’ high school basketball jersey, worn during a pivotal moment in his early career, is set to be auctioned.
The jersey, adorned with the iconic #23 of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School’s Fighting Irish, was worn by James during a February 2002 game against the Archbishop Hoban Knights.

David Goodman, CEO of Julien’s Auctions, said in a press release reported by Bleacher Report that the jersey reflects James’s humble beginnings.
“LeBron James’ famous ‘The Chosen One’ high school basketball jersey and these rare photo prints of him taken during his remarkable Sports Illustrated photo shoot are some of the most emblematic and important pieces of sports and entertainment history,” Goodman stated.
“This storied jersey represents the pivotal moment of LeBron’s ascension to basketball royalty and is one of the must-have collectibles of all time for sports memorabilia collectors, historians, and fans.”
Julien’s Auctions is handling the sale, with the starting bid set at $250,000. The auction will take place on September 27th, both online and live from Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong, beginning at 10 PM ET.
With LeBron James’ legacy continuing to grow, this rare piece of sports memorabilia is expected to draw significant interest from collectors worldwide.
