Bayer Leverkusen are hoping to wrap up a loan deal for Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard but face competition for his signature. Leverkusen appeared to be in the box seat last week when the young Norwegian jetted into Germany for talks, but Spanish side Real Sociedad have since joined the race and have turned the player’s head.

The La Liga side are said to have held talks with him on Friday and it is thought the player may prefer to stay in Spain rather than head to the Bundesliga.
However, Leverkusen have been boosted by the news Real would prefer him to head to them as Champions League football is on offer, which would help with his development. Odegaard has spent the last two seasons on loan in Holland, with Heerenveen and also Vitesse Arnhem, with Leverkusen now keen to get him on board.
