Lewandowski: Poland Will Fight To Bounce Back At Euro 2020

Poland captain, Robert Lewandowski, has regretted his team’s 2-1 defeat to Slovakia in their first Group E match of Euro 2020 on Monday, but the Bayern Munich talismanic striker has calmed down disappointed fans by promising a resolute fight in their next matches in order to qualify from the group, Completesports.com reports.

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny scored an own goal on 18 minutes, then Karol Linetty and Milan Skriniar netted 46th and 69th minutes goals respectively for Slovakia, and Poland couldn’t salvage the situation despite having a overall better ball possession at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.

Lewandowski’s Poland bring up the rear in Group E without any point after matchday-1 following Spain goalless draw with Sweden in Seville same day.

Next up for Poland at Euro 2020 is an epic matchday -2 clash with Spain on Saturday, June 19 at La Cartuja Stadium, Seville, before facing Sweden on Wednesday June 23 in Saint Petersburg.

Lewandowski on Tuesday, took to his Instagram page to comment about his team’s sloppy start in the tournament, but promised their fans that the team will fight to bounce back in the group.

“We believed that once we scored an a late goal, the match would go as we plan. That didn’t happen after all. We realize that our situation is
difficult right now, but we will do everything to make it look better in other matches. We keep
fighting. Thank you for being with us.

Lewandowski who is a standout striker in Europe after netting 41 Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich in the 2020/2021 season, will also be looking to punch his weight at Euro 2020. He has netted a whopping 203 goals in the seven seasons he has been with Bayern.
