Ligue 1 Celebrates Simon After Another Assist In Nantes Win

French Ligue 1 organisers have celebrated Super Eagles winger Moses Simon after he provided another assist in Nantes 1-0 away win against Nimes on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Simon set up teammate Imran Louza to score the only goal of the game in the 28th minute.

Last week, he also provided the assist which saw Nantes beat visiting Dijon 1-0 in a Ligue 1 clash.

Commenting on Simon’s impressive performance, the Ligue 1 describes him as Nantes’ outstanding performer so far this season.

“Super Eagles star Moses Simon has been FC Nantes’s main man this season!

“Simon has contributed two goals, three assists, more than any other FC Nantes player,” the French top flight body stated.

Saturday’s win against Nimes temporarily took Nantes to fourth position in the league table on 29 points.

Simon is currently on loan at Nantes whom he joined in 2019 from Spanish LaLiga side Levante.

During his time at Levante, he made 19 appearances scoring just one goal.

He has also featured for clubs like KAA Gent in Belgium and the Slovakian league side, Trencin.

In 2015 Simon received his first call-up to the Super Eagles and made his debut on March 25 in an international friendly against Uganda, when he replaced Anthony Ujah after 59 minutes.

He scored his first goal for Nigeria in an international friendly against Niger on 8 September 2015, the second in a 2–0 win.

Simon was selected in Nigeria’s 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics but did not make the final squad.

In May 2018 he was named in the Super Eagles preliminary 30-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. However, he did not make the final 23 due to injury.

He was a member the Super Eagles squad that won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal in Egypt.

Nante will host Angers in their next Ligue 1 game on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
