Ligue 1 Rates Simon Highly After Match-Winning Showing For Nantes Against Nice

French Ligue 1 has hailed Nigerian winger, Moses Simon, in glowing terms following his man of the match performance in FC Nantes’ 1-0 home win against OGC Nice on Saturday night, Completesports.com reports.

Simon tormented Nice all night at the Stade de la Beaujoire, and netted the backbreaking goal, which was long in coming, against the hard-fighting Patrick Vieira’s men.

Simon connected home a sublime header off Kader Bamba’s cross in the 84th minute before he was substituted by Samuel Moutoussamy in stoppage time to a thunderous applause from the home fans.

It was the Nigerian’s second Ligue 1 goal for FC Nantes in seven games since his summer arrival as a loanee from Laliga side, Levante. He has also registered one assist.

The goal ensured the Christian Gourcuff’s team took the second spot in the Ligue 1 table on 19 points after matchday-9, behind PSG who are on 21 points.

The French Ligue 1 captured Simon’s top performance in Nantes’ win against Nice on its official website and also acknowledged the Nigerian’s all-round performance for the Canaries since his loan signing in August.

“Simon was absolutely unstoppable at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday night. The Nigeria winger has endured a difficult couple of years in the European big leagues since his breakout spell at Gent, and arrived at Nantes in the summer looking to rebuild his career,” the Ligue 1 report stated.

“If he keeps playing like this, his parent club [UD Levante] might be tempted to recall him to la Liga after all.

“Simon completed 85 percent of his passes in the final third as well as having a game high four shots at goal, and his refusal to lie down was the difference between Nantes picking up all three points and not.”

This why i always maintain those that judge Simon on dribbling alone are missing it. He has improved his all round play that can positively impact on any team. Well done Simon
