Awoniyi missing many chances isn’t good for the team and time is tickling

  • greenturf 5 years ago

Too many strikers as well so who is going to create the chances from the offensive midfield?

  • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

If these guys don’t deliver complete sports should allow us to hear word and stop showing us their news. Our media’s should only overhype sure GEMS sadly this is all Naija can boast of ATM

  • Beryl 5 years ago

now you people have seen what osimhen is capable of, especially those saying awoniyi is better.

    • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

Yes you’re right he’s proved me wrong and the coach knows what he is doing take a look at the subs Okereke is the joker I have been waiting to see. This shows he’s a coach who knows what he is doing I G Rohr will learn from this tactical point of Imama!

  • Defensive re-inforcement urgently neede! The hard part is already done!

  • greenturf 5 years ago

One more goal please we need to win emphatically to be sure should the Libyans score against the run of play

  • sorry ‘needed’!

  • Asoko Emmanuel 5 years ago

At this point,I think those of u coming here to criticise Rorh and his selection cum player invitation should be humble enough to publicly apologise to him.We now know that he sees what we do not see.

  • Asoko Emmanuel 5 years ago

    Goooooooo 4th one

  • Peterside Udah 5 years ago

My fellow Nigerians, see coach Imama show Rohr how to make effective substitution!

Our coaches are more capable than we give them credit for.

    Aboundant blessings to you all.

  • pompei 5 years ago

Chai! E remain one goal to spell L-I-B-Y-A. No wahala. We are thru to the next phase. Some of these boys will surely be on the plane to the 2019 Afcon. BTW, poor Libya! They will be absolutely sick and tired of Nigeria at the moment 🙂
I hope they don’t start harrassing our people in their country because of futubolu. I’m certain they will not want to meet us again any time soon!

  • Anti-Rohrs in the house….see what this man is doing for the development of this country?
He is supporting under 20 coach, already won the heart of 3 German-Nigerian players for him.
Same for Under 23. At least, u people won’t ask for his head anytime he calls Osimhen again. Super Eagles will soon be there too. We are getting there gradually.

    • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

Sean no one is anti you guys keep missing the point. And here’s it when a coach does his home work right we praise but when he does calamity like bringing on Ighalo against Argentina when we were almost through or Akpeyi keeps getting invitations then we must halla if we don’t who will??? And here is Imama’s tactical subs which I will call spot on. Will Rohr make such a great move and this same Osimhen was on bench throughout on Friday even though I know everyone can not play at once but we have the ticket and will surely win even without Ighalo plus the penalty. He should have tried news lads to generate more future options.

  • Settles the argument, Osimhen is more lethal than Awoniyi.

Next round 3rd to 11th June. Good thing is, it’s also in a FIFA international break. The problem is, AFCON starts between the two legs (7th of June start).

The coaches will have to decide who goes to AFCON and who stays with the under 23s.

    No more “borrow me players”

  • Ikeben 5 years ago

Yeso, Congrats to the Dream Team. Congrats Osimen, Will definitely become the big deal in Super Eagles very soon. Showed the others that his been called up to the Senior team is not fluke. Also congrats to Coah Imama and Rohr for working together to achieve the same a common good for Nigeria. We will rule the world soon in football. Fly Eagles

  • Ighalo is more experienced, Osimhen is more clinical in front of goal. Here may be the next Rashidi Yekini, a natural goal poacher (no disrespect to Ighalo). Young but with the confidence and swagger of a Drogba. Other potential SE Number 9s may be good, but Osimhen is simply a diamond in the rough. A genius. He just needs a little more polishing and voila! A new Didier Drogba or is Samuel Etoo born for Africa.

I’ve always said it’s hard for Osimhen to play 90 minutes in a Nigerian shirt without scoring — whether it’s the U17, U20, U23 or SE. If he didn’t score, he was just plain unlucky and would definitely have been close on many occasions in the match. The day Rohr starts giving Osimhen more game time, the day the dynamics of the SE will start changing.

    • ADEYEMI Temitope 5 years ago

Spot on… Good Thinking, Good Product! My eyes are on that boy but I have problems with the coach rohrabacher with is introduction style. Give this guy complete 90mins and be rest assured of at least 1.5 goals. Doubt me at your peril. Osimhen is a Pure Gold, Awoniyi is a Raw Gold (working to get there) Ighalo is a bold player but not as talented as this one above.

    • Paschal 5 years ago

We all said the same about Kelechi Iheanacho. Let us just apply prudence in the way we hype the young man so it doesn’t get into his head. He did well today. God bless Osimhen.

    • Asoko Emmanuel 5 years ago

Pls need to quickly correct the notion. The fact that Osimhen scored today and Awoniyi did not score does not mean that Awoniyi is a bad player.Awoniyi is a fine player by all standard and I particularly appreciate how that Imama played both of them in the same game showing that nothing wrong in playing two no.9s together. The tactical lesson is that when you play two mask men together in the same game in the real world of it you are simply sacrificing one for another with the soul aim of using the sacrificial lamp to distract the opponent and take off the attention off the actual goal scorer. The model is actually practiced several time in training where one of the striker serves as a shield for the other.
In today’s game Awoniyi was actually the sacrificial lamp whose main job was to pave way for Osimhen, just like Salah and Firmiho combination. On this day this tactics of Imama worked and cuddles to him.As for Awoniyi and Osimhen pls don’t compare they r both in their own class and they both did a great job today.

  • Chima E Samuels 5 years ago

And guys no comparison because the Awoniyi you see is not fully fit starting from last week prior to his last game for his club where he had to play after a last minute fitness test. I still rate him high and salute to Osimhen the man of the moment!

  • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

We could’ve scored 8 goals after hitting the post and the crossbar three times. Awoniyi also missed another sitter in the first half. We could easily have been 4 nil up at halftime in an attacking master class display by the DreamTeam. The line up and the squad in general are too talented not to qualify for the next round.

This could easily be the line up in Qatar 2022 with some added valuable established stars at the time. It’s more like a current SuperEagles B team. I’m sure teams like Mauritania or Madagascar and the likes will fancy this U23 line up to be their first 11 at the AFCON in Egypt.

A vast majority of them have a chance to stake a claim for a spot in the AFCON bound SuperEagles. Overall, Osimhen showed why he’s more valuable than Awoniyi as a true poacher. Awoniyi is quite as good as Osimhen, but his profligacy in front of goal at very crucial moments remains his bane. That’s why Osimhen might progress better than him through the ranks. However, we need both of them as they offer different attributes to the team going forward. #FLY LIKE AN EAGLE INTO THE FUTURE.

    • Footballfanatic 5 years ago

I respect your analysis especially on Awoniyi.

    • Paschal 5 years ago

      Super analysis. Thumbs Up.

    • Very matured analysis. Great thinking.
Awoniyi really is a good player as we all might have noticed in his previous games for Eagles but he just need to prove his quality in such a crucial game as this, while the comparison is unavoidable given that both are strikers yet it’s unnecessary and premature as they are both evolving and good in their individual right.

  • Alamin 5 years ago

osimhen was extraordinary today but consistency is d key guys this shows d kind of football talent that our country in endowed with. Ighalo has experience and osimhen is clinical in front of goal even Awoniyi is also a good striker so I think any of them can be chosen for Afcon and d Olympic so fans should not be selecting for coach or blaming d coach for his selection they all have their importance. Bravo to the Dream team.

    • Sunnyb 5 years ago

@Ayphilly, I think I will ve to agree with u today Bro.future is very bright

  • Just like what we saw when dream team led by siasia and manu garba’s side play each other alongside other top clubs preparing for their respective future tournament, it will be good to see the SE play this dream team just before either of their tournaments gets underway as part of their preparations.
It will be good to see what the two gaffers have up in their sleeves using the the players at their disposal.

  • Omo9ja 5 years ago

Congratulations boys. This is just the beginning. Keep your hands up and get the job. I’m proud of you guys. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Victor Osimhen..The Real Eagle Has Landed. Is There Any More Hope For Kelechi Iheanacho.AC MILAN NOW SALIVATING THIS AWESOME TALENT..

  • Chairmanfemi 5 years ago

Now no one is remembering they played in a “bad” stadia…lol. Congrats to the Dream team and most congrats to The Goal master VICTOR OSHIMEN. I love the re-union between them(Oshimen,Chukwueze,Nwakali) and I think it was one of the things that paved ways today. This was my dream back then in 2015 when they played together at U-17 WC and am so glad it happening now. They are together paving ways
