    Obi…obi…obi…obi…

Let’s go Super Falcons.  The day is yours to carry

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Daylight robbery on the Zambians. How is that a penalty?? Motsepe is doing everything to help South Africa win this tournament, but God go pass them. Let’s go Falconsssssssss!!!!!!!!!!

    • Can you blame him, the so called other African exco around him cannot talk. They need to voice out in the choice of referees, assistance and var officials.

  • Zambia was robbed in under the watchful eyes of the whole world!!!

  • Diran 2 years ago

Zambia was definitely robbed and cheated in their game against South Africa!. That was a controversial VAR penalty awarded very few seconds to the end of the match against the Zambians. Motsepe seems to be playing dirty politics and doing everything possible including cheating to enable the South Africans to lift the trophy. Sadly, the Zambians were robbed as that penalty call was dubious.

  • I welcome the inclusion of Uchenna Kanu ahead of Ordega in the starting lineup: Kanu offers more width and greater goals threat. But Ordega works her socks off defensively so Kanu must pull her weight in this area.

The rest of the lineup are able and competent.

  • pompei 2 years ago

    Ref, behave yaself today ooo.

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

One thing i cant stand is lack of respect and bad sportsmanship.  And with the Moroccan fans jeering our national anthem, i hope we beat them silly and shut those fans uo

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

    Let’s go PLUMPTRE!!!!!!!

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Bismilallah. God is in control. Let’s goooo Super Falcons. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

    We haven’t settled yet

  • pompei 2 years ago

I noticed they’ve been tackling Ajibade really hard so far. Seems they want to get her out of the game.

    • SE Supporter 2 years ago

They mean business. They pass better and are sharper on the ball. SF will likely lose the match.

  • SE Supporter 2 years ago

Nigeria is not likely to win this match. I am not seeing good signs.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Beware of the Moroccan high press. Minimize turnovers in and around our vital area. That’s what Morocco is waiting for. And they will try to run into our box and fall down to get penalty calls.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

This Onumonu girl no the use brain play ball… She has the physique but very poor ball player.

    • SE Supporter 2 years ago

She is not a good striker. I saw that from the last game against CAMEROON. But some people told me to shut up.

  • pompei 2 years ago

A good cross into the box for Plumptre to score or assist. That is one way we can get a goal in this game.

  • Empire 2 years ago

North Africa big trick using infrared pointing the eyes of Nigerian players.. this is robbery!

  • pompei 2 years ago

They’ve identified Ajibade as the danger woman. They’ve been double and triple marking her all day.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

This Onumanu abi na Onumanu na one players I don’t have words to describe lol

  • pompei 2 years ago

Ucheibe making good runs up from midfield to assist Onumonu.
Ayinde doing a great job in the DM position.

  • Onumonu is a bit of a weak link in this match. I think Gift Monday should be considered.

    • I concur. Onumonu is strong and intelligent but Gift looks to have more flair and to be more dangerous as the point woman. But I have to give it to Waldrum. This team play very tactically, have become really mature and play as a unit with no particular star woman.

    • Solomon 2 years ago

Onumonu should be changed with immediate alacrity. She is contributing nothing to the match. Ordega should be brought in to the left flank and Kanu taken to the centre forward role. We need to score

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

I agree with you Deo. You are seeing what I’m seeing. Good game so far. God is in control. We move. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

Yes the midfield has stifled the Moroccans and not allowed them to combine and fund their wingers.  We’re also way more physically imposing than them.  Just missing that final link to the center forward.  Apart from the first 10 minutes, we’ve pretty much imposed our will on this match

    • Solomon 2 years ago

Our midfielders are the best. Ucheibe, Ayinde and Okobi are too good. Love these three ladies

  • pompei 2 years ago

This pipo want to kill Ajibade for us ooo. Which kain thing be dis now?

    • SE Supporter 2 years ago

That is why they use Kanu more on the left flank. She’s been fantastic.

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Joint leading scorer with a Moroccan….So it’s obvious they are trying to take her out..

  • pompei 2 years ago

Perhaps Ordega or Monday will come in for Onumonu in the 2nd half. Someone with pace in the center forward position.

  • Nigeria has all it takes to win this match – stamina, pace, and ball artistry, the super falcons are heads and shoulder above the Moroccans. But like @ Deo said, our weak like is Onumonu. As long as the coach continues to use her as the striker, falcons will find it difficult to score. Onumonu is good when it comes to holding
ball. But in terms of pace, strength and scoring, she is very weak.
The best strategy would have been to use Kanu as the striker and play Onumonu on the wings. Better still put her on the bench and use Ordega or MOnday.

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

The SuperFalcons are now imposing their game on the Moroccans. We’ve been physical when needed and we’ve shown guile and composure with gusto to match them skill for skill.

Christy Ucheibe is playing like N’GOLO Kante. We’re winning this match if we continue like this. We just have to make use of our chances. Let’s go Ladies Onome Ebi baby Iyawo mi please ginger the girls to glory!!!

  • pompei 2 years ago

Hahaha, her name is ONUMONU, not ANUMANU.
Abeg, make unu take am easy. In her defense, she has not received any decent service yet. Without pace, she’s a sitting duck out there.
If she’s not up to it today, make dem kuku commot am. But no need to strip her of her dignity.

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

People have just realised how bad Onumonu is a striker.
I mentioned her poor presence as a striker against Cameroon and it looked like I was too harsh but I wasn’t rather I was honest with what I saw of her.
You can’t win a tournament with a striker like Onumonu leading the line. She’s not intelligent and lacks that quality a traditional Nigerian striker possess, she’s no threat to the opponent, with her height you expect a lot but unfortunately for her you can’t give what you don’t have.

    • Chuxs 2 years ago

Bros she is trying. She is a lone striker and it’s not that easy for her to be running up and down with no support

      • Greenturf 2 years ago

Bros Gift Monday came on as a lone striker you saw difference bros?

  • SE Supporter 2 years ago

Are you seeing what I am seeing people? CAF is a disgrace. This is another reminder of TUN-NIG match earlier this year.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Unu don see am. AMERICAN WONDER. The ref has started to play her role. Red card for Ayinde.

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

I said it in an earlier post that the only way we won’t win dis game is if d ref miraculously manufactures a red card to 9ja. This has happened

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

    This var is total bullshit!!!

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Take out unumonu and bring in Efih now to help shore up the midfield

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Make this man commot Onumonu for christ sake….We are already short one of a crucial player

  • KENNETH 2 years ago

Whats going with Caf and this poor officiating. How is that a red card offense. Naaaaaaaa. If Morocco wins they don’t deserve it just like South Africa didn’t deserve there win. Rubbish call

  • pompei 2 years ago

You see the way the Moroccans are running into our box? That is what they will be doing, looking for how to tumble in the box, so the ref can give them a penalty call.
It’s Nigeria vs Morocco, the crowd, and the referee today.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Plumptre to Nigeria’s rescue, clearing the ball from the goal line.

  • Chuks 2 years ago

For me. He needs to bring in Gift Monday with her speed to unearth this tired moroccans

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

It was a red card people in as much as we dont like it.  This is what the rule book says.  We move.  I still see us winning this.  We just have to survive the jolt the red card has given the Moroccans, and then use our experience to see this through

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

The SF should just stay calm, weather this storm and reset. The moroccans will soon tire out and we will catch dem on the counterattack. But the coach needs to reinforce the midfield asap

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Shame on African football….A yellow for the same kind of foul you gave a red earlier…God Punish this referee

    • SE Supporter 2 years ago

      Yes, God will punish her.

    • Four four two 2 years ago

VAR was brought on to help minimise refereeing errors but it seems people who are opportuned to be in charge are now using it to rob opponents. As far as I’m know football the Morrocon player who step on the Nigerian player also deserve a red card. Moreover, the equalliser was pure offside but VAR ignore checking it to bring out the true position of things. Finally this is a true reflection of the reason for zoning the qualifiers. So that Ghana, Ivory and Nigeria will eliminate themselves before the main tournament and make the job easier for them to manipulate.

  • KENNETH 2 years ago

    Goooooooooaaaalllllllllll. Nigeriaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

    Goal for 9ja

  • pompei 2 years ago

Onumonu is bad, she is poor, she is the weak link!
But she has now given Nigeria a vital assist for a goal!

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

    Wetin i just talk…Naija!!!!

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Unumonu has to be given some credit as the header was beautiful to watch

    • Chuxs 2 years ago

Abi o. She is very vital in this team. It’s just unfortunate she doesn’t have someone to coexist with her. See our stupid error. Why

  • Chuks 2 years ago

What are you saying. Was she aware her leg was there. That was accidental, not a red card offense one bit

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

    Chai

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Equalizer for morocco. The midfield needs help coach waldrum. Ebi is not fast hence the requirement for someone to protect the back 4. Anyway the coach knows best

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

    This match choke oooo lol

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

Mek dem no give Ajibade red o

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Another red card to come against 9ja if dis useless ref goes to check var again

  • Folarin 2 years ago

Another red card. Obviously they south Africa to win. Game over

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

To be honest our girls sef no get sense why would you tackle like that after you already had one red card…playing against the host and referee. That is just the rule. That was a dangerous tackle.

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

Even if we were to win this match, we’ve lost two very key players for the finals

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

This coach needs to make some tactical changes. Our midfield is being over run

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Is Waldrum daft or something? At this point just defend till 120 mins and go for a shoot out or if some quick counter happens..

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Old age don come for Ebi, u can’t cheat nature. Great game by her tho. She has served her country very well but we do need younger and faster players

  • Regista 2 years ago

Payne is to blame for that Ajibade red card. Look at the careless pass she gave when she wasn’t under any pressure, causing Ajibade to track back to win the ball. You are 1 girl down and you still want to play fancy football. Inexperience is just generally the bane of Nigerian soccer at all levels.

  • Chuxs 2 years ago

Our goalkeeper is just jittery. She needs to be composed. CAF doesn’t want Nigeria to lift the cup. Simple. No 2 ways about it. Some calls are just ridiculous

    • Regista 2 years ago

This police football they are playing now is what they were supposed to play immediately after going 1 up. But as is typical with Nigerian teams, the goal got into their heads and they felt it was time to play samba football. Instead of putting their laces through the ball in dangerous situations as they are doing now.

  • The coach needs to be sacked. There is nothing special in all these white coaches. Nigeria won 9 title with local coaches even with a female coach. Plumptre is in no way better than Michelle Alozie but he keeps using her. They have been capitalizing on her slowness in this competition.

  • Sunnyb 2 years ago

These old women are tied, i don’t know how the players were selected, but this goalkeeper needs to be investigated, Morocco pls send these old tied corruptly selected women home.

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

This coach is officially an olodo coach. Am not one to insult a person but u bring an old person to come play in the midfield wen u are down 2 players. Forget the crap about experience. There are some experience dat aren’t relevant and this is one of those cases. This coach fall my hand big time with dis substitution

  • pompei 2 years ago

    Monday coming in.

  • I think Waldrum’s options are limited because of the double sending offs.

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Taking off a midfielder (okobi) for a forward when u need a midfielder. There is really something wrong somewhere with dis coach. Instead of taking unumonu out if indeed he needs to bring a forward instead u remove okobi. If okobi is tired then replace her with a midfielder for crying out loud.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Morocco still struggling to beat 9-woman Nigeria.
May be they will need to send everybody off, including Nnadozie, for them to win this match.

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

OUR COACH LOL LOL LOL CLUELESS, REF CLUELESS , OUR NUMBER 9 CLUELESS LOL

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

    VAR VS NIGERIA LOL LOL

  • pompei 2 years ago

I can’t believe they did not award the penalty!
Golden opportunity to eliminate Nigeria not taken! Maybe hope still dey!

    • Regista 2 years ago

They don’t want to make it too obvious. They feel Morocco should be able to win in extra time. The biased officiating is a disgrace.

  • Chuxs 2 years ago

Na wa for some comments here. Why una no leave ur online computer and enter field. And apply with ur own uefa certificate for the Job. Leave the coach alone. His options are limited. This is his first tournament cut him a slack. You and I know that this is day light robbery. And the girls have tried going 90 minutes

  • William the conqueror 2 years ago

Is this a Nigerian team or cameroonian team?

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

This coach has relied on the talent he has…..He is tactically daft. Playing with 9 players and you still get time to bring in Striker and leaves another weak striker on.

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

OUR COACH MOST BE INVESTIGATED AFTER THE REF LOL LOL, AFRICA FOOTBALL, IF NIGERIA NO COLLECT 5 RED CARDS , MORROCCO NO GO WIN THIS MATCH,,, MORROCCO TO WIN VIA V A R

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

If Morocco doesn’t Finnish us off in extra time then we must be very lucky lol .

  • I am not sure they can survive this extra time with 2 women short. They should be highly rewarded if they do

  • I never in a million years expected this turn of events. 2 red cards to Nigeria…. Crazy stuff….

  • Both red cards are correct, our girls are too jittery and uncomposed, then we have a coach that has no slightest idea of how to change the match situation
No tactics change, no formation change even with 2 red cards. We lost 2 of our best in the middle, which really affected the intensity of our game.
Even if by luck we win this competition, this coach should be change, it will be a huge gamble to go to world cup with this kind of clueless coach.

  • The Nigerian coach is an apology. Though Nigeria is playing with 2 women down. We are actually playing with an additional short one becuse Onumonu has been a minus one in this match.

The coach is going to make a change you decide to bring in an unfit Chikwelu for Okobi, thereby completely killing your midfield. They should just let the coach go after this tournament abeg

  • There is no way on earth this Morocco would have defeated us with 11 v 11.

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

So this coach can not tell that the right back is exposed by Payne? What is wrong with NFF is it only Morocco that knows how to employ sound coaches? And when you check the salary cap of African coaches you’ll realise that the difference is not much but because of dubious behind the scene that is why they hire whatever and inflate the figure. God is watching us I still believe the girls will survive this madness!!!

  • This is a game where you need Azizat Oshoala or Nwokocha in their prime days. No one has proven to me that she can enter Azizat’s shoe. Ajibade comes a little close.

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Assisat has been terrible in the senior national team. He last exploit was U20. When you want to mention greats give examples like Nkwocha and Mercy Akinde.

      • She has not been terrible in WAFCON bro. You can mention world cup performances, that is peculiar to Falcons in general. She stepped in well to replace Nwokocha. A player that won 4 African women player of the year with highest goal scorer in 2 WAFCON is not terrible .

        • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

She won based on her exploits with Barcelona and her other foreign engagement. More is needed from her when it comes to SF.

          • I don’t agree. Some WAFCON also contributed to her winning

  • Regista 2 years ago

Thumbs up to Ohale for putting her hands behind her. The ref would have taken advantage of that situation to give a penalty.

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

EVEN THROWING FOR MORROCCO ,AM SURE V A R WILL ALSO CHECK

  • Mickey 2 years ago

We are playing 8 against 11 Rita chikwelu is finished she has no business on that pitch

  • This ref is very heartless and baise, a morrocan player brought our player down the same way of the one she gave a red card for, but instead of red she gave a yellow card. This is nonsense

  • Just substitute this Onumunu for Christ sake, does this our coach no get eye? Bring in midfielder

  • What’s that number 9 still doing on the pitch for goodness sake !!

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

NUMBER 9 AND OUR USELESS COACH NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED

  • The SA-must-win-this-Afcon plot thickens, directed in the background by Motsepe with refs and VAR as his main tools. Even if Nigeria manages to scale through, they’ll have a badly weakened team, therefore handing the advantage to SA.

Even if these girls fail this unfair hurdle, I’m still proud of them. They’re the best in this tournament (but Plumptre is easily out of breath and slow). They’ll do great at the World Cup. We can leave the Wafcon trophy to them to fight over. We’ve had our fill after all. 11 on 11, none of them fit stand una. SA would have been disgraced on Saturday.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

That Toni Payne area is wide open…I don’t know how Morocco hasn’t scored..

    • Jide Dola 2 years ago

This one that Onumonu made assist and you people were celebrating her, I bet you if it were to be Monday Gift that started he would have scored. May be we would have been 2 goals up before the Morocans scored

  • Oh Lord behold their craftiness, and grant us victory

  • pompei 2 years ago

A good team would have put us to sleep by now. Morocco is a mediocre team.
If Morocco win, I look forward to the final.
It will be a MOTSEPE VS MOROCCO showdown.
    VAR sef go taya.

    • More so when you consider how jittery our backline has been at times.

    • Chuks 2 years ago

At least you looking for them to fail in the first place. But they keep proving you wrong.

      • pompei 2 years ago

E be like say you dey see double. Go find something chop, make your eye no dey turn you again.

  • onwajunior 2 years ago

It’ll be funny if tye coach is keeping Onumunu just for penalties and we don’t even get to that stage or she goes on to miss her penalty

    • onwajunior 2 years ago

      I talk am!!!!

      • Na so Onwa. The girl has being a flop except the header that resulted into goal. No major contribution

  • What a conspiracy against Nigeria…
What’s AMAJU MELVIN PINNICK’s influence as a FIFA and CAF exco board member… Seeing the conspiracy by match officials against our national teams?
Pinnick if your membership can’t rub off on our football positively then resign and come back home a failure… Idiot

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

We can no see Waldrum is a fool…..You remove Ucheibe wow

    • Chuks 2 years ago

Why didn’t you volunteer to come in. Since you are the saviour. Enter field of play and give us the goal we need.

    • Greenturf 2 years ago

Take it easy the coach has done a fantastic job under an extreme difficult circumstances

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

Ucheigbe…i doff my hat to you.  What a tireless workmanlike shift she put in

    • onwajunior 2 years ago

Can we all give a solid round of applause to the Falcons? Whatever happens here they’ve tried!

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

How do u take ucheibe out, understandably she is tired but she is still doing the job. Anyway lets see

  • Oh my God!!! Gift monday

  • Lord AMO 2 years ago

Mek una calm down na.  We are down 2 players, there’s no miracle that any coach is going to perform in that situation.  Instead lets focus on the positives which is our girls fighting spirit.  Im so proud of this effort.

    Simply put, we no gree!

    • Fairplay 2 years ago

CAF and their stupid manipulations. No wonder African football has remained low.

    • They will be put to shame, despite all their gimmicks, we are winning this match.

  • Regista 2 years ago

Smart move by Ohale to stay down. She has learnt from the likes of Cameroon and Ghana on how to waste time lol

  • pompei 2 years ago

Our girls have tried! What a tremendous show of courage and determination, against all odds.

    • Honestly they should have shown this sort of determined attitude after going 1 up. But well done to them all the same for seeing it out.

    • Fairplay 2 years ago

      you’ve said it all.

  • Penalties…….

  • Chuks 2 years ago

Morocco suppose cover there face. They had a whole 1 hour to score and they didn’t. Abeg I carry yansh give the Nigerian team. At least the coach was stupid with his substitutions. Over to you our online coaches.

    • @Chucks, yes his subs were late and to me was not the correct decision. After the first red one of Kanu/Onumonu would have been sub for Otu. And later the other for Monday. Keeping Onumonu till the penalties was not a good decision.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Kudos to these girls wow….Even if they losentheybhave my respect but Waldrum you are a dummy..

  • Proudly 9ja 2 years ago

Kudos to d girls. They have fought gallantly. Super falcons u have done wonderfully well. The gods of soccer will shine on u guys as u win d penalty shootout. God no dey sleep lol

  • Whatever happen now, kudos to my angels.

  • Nigeria won it 9 times, currently playing with 9women!! Finger crossed

  • Chudynak 2 years ago

I can’t believe that our ladies could hold their opponents to the end. Kudos to the team irrespective of the outcome of the shootout

  • Whatever happens, Gift Monday must take the place of Onumonu in our starting 11. Monday holds the ball up more better.

  • Our girls are winning this penalty. Morocco will flop alot

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

I just knew she was going to lose it …

    • Me too

    • If you knew she would loose, you should have said so before she took it now. Abi?

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

You want make people curse me for here…We don shout taya make the coach remove am e no gree.

  • Hi guys everyone can see that there’s something wrong with this team a well organized super falcons during first half should have be leading with 3-4 gaols falcons is beingginning to go down the only nigeria pride for now if nff are not carefull with the way things are going super falcons will start struggling in africa women competition.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

We told this fool to substitute Onumonu he kept her….Now she has done the did.

  • Onumonu!!!!!

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

THEY ARE PUTTING THAT LAZER GREEN LIGHT IN OUR PLAYERS FACE, THEY DID EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE NIGERIA LOST TONIGHT, AND THANKS TO OUR COACH AND THAT NUMBER 9

    • The girls tried their best. Hopefully 2024 is another wafcon.

  • Kingsley 2 years ago

Well girls you did us proud. Even though you were robbed. There is always another time. That oshola injury is still suspicious to me. CAF eventually wanted a new champ.

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

That Gift Monday is a better player than Onumonu. The fact that the coach always starts her shows the coach does not really know his players’ capabilities… I don’t even care about her missed penalty. But the way she took the plenty clearly shows the girl is deficient in a lot of areas. She just is not good enough to lead the lines for us… Alozie or Payne should have taken a penalty in her place. If we had a good attacker like Gift Monday from first half… We would have won! Waldrum also does not have enough experience in African soccer… When you play the host nation and you tackle like Ayinde and Ajibade did… You will be sent off. Those cards were deserved in the circumstances of their occurrence… They should have known that Morocco will get a slight advantage in calls…

  • Fairplay 2 years ago

    hmmm

  • Hope Morocco will win the cup

  • Fairplay 2 years ago

    wat a game

  • Olujjjj 2 years ago

The two team that qualify for the final used long leg. Lol

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

Very good performance for the falcons, what a game and I am so proud of the girls. Interestingly, what undid the super eagles is what has affected the falcons too. The stamping on the foot! With VAR, Nigerian teams need to learn from this.

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

Like i said you can’t win a competition with a centre forward in the mould of Onumonu.
I didn’t know gift Monday is that good and she was left wasting on the bench wow!
I wish Onumonu was substituted before the final whistle ha..
well you could tell Falcons reign as African champions for a long time now was stopped by CAF officials to allow it look more like a competition because other teams have to win too.
The most important thing is world cup qualification.

    • It is even glaring that even with 11 against 9 (mind you we had an additional short one because Onumonu was a minus one for Nigeria) players, Morocco would not have score if they had played for the next 2 hours.
I can’t fault the girls at all in any way. Even Onumonu that was a disappointment in this match can’t be faulted because it was this Waldrum of a coach who selected her in the first place.
Rather than blame the girls, I will say they should please let this coach go. Enough of the headache he has given us.

  • They should just let this coach go abeg. He knows nothing about football. It is not everything that is oyinbo that is better than Africans.

This coach just took out all the fit players, who were actually the engine room of the team for old and weak players. How can you take out Kanu in this match and leave a minus one – Onumonu on the pitch. Why take out Okobi and Ucheibe, only to bring in CHikwelu. This is just pure rubbish from the coach.

He kept leaving the old and unfit players on the pitch and kept better and fitter players on the bench. His strategy is also zero. Please they should let this coach go. We have seen enough of the rubbish is has done

You have someone like gift on the bench but you keep Onumonu…..That is some America sentiment playing out right there…I’m sure with 10 players we would have beaten this Moroccan side who could not beat our 9 man team with 3 important players out .

  • The jury is out on our American coach… Up Naija!

  • Papafem 2 years ago

I wrote a piece about Onumonu, some people here were attacking me. Did you see what happened today. Until we put sentiment apart and stand for the truth, we will surely struggle to achieve greatness. Godd bless Nigeria.

    • You will always have players in the mold of Onumonu. But it is the job of the coach to know how best to use her. I agree with your take on Onumonu. The coach should have played her behind Kanu or better still, push her to the wings. It even amazes me why the coach will keep using her (Onumonu as our top striker) when she is obviously not strong. I don’t know why in this world she thinks Chikwelu can do a better job than Efih or Otu in this tournament.

Truth be told, it is pure sentiment that players out when you start players like Onome Ebi (her lack of pace was partly responsible for the Moroccan equalizer in this match. Onome Ebi can’t run!), Chikwelu, Tochukwu Oluehi, and Onumonu for all the other players in this team.

The coach needs to give the super falcons a break.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

I can’t fault the girls for anything they were amazing but No 9 Onumonu and Waldrum need to go.
After Ajibade got the red card…He took out Onobi and Ucheibe….Left a very unimpressive Onumonu and please don’t tell me about her header that was all she did in the game……We all saw what Gift Monday did. I hope we can do away with this coach before the WC…..The team has potentials. Except for some names.

    • Golden Child 2 years ago

Seems like another Gernot Rohr saga. We do not need that, let the coach carry on with his job. He needs to comb for more promising players. The talent gap has been shortened. What has just happened is huge because the myth of the falcons has been unravelled. Teams will fancy their chances. All they need to do is to take stock and bounce back. Wishing our valiant girls all the best in their future endeavour.

These girls are heroins. I salute them specially for not losing in regulation time. And although we did not progress, the game ended 1 all. Great achievement!

The AWCON final: who will prevail in the battle of the CHEATS?
Zambia robbed, Nigeria stripped naked. All to ensure that SA and Morocco qualify for the final.
If the world does not respect African football, today’s match is EXHIBIT A of why that is the case.
Our ladies should know we appreciate them. They had a mountain to climb today. If it was just the Moroccan team, they would have won. But it’s tough when you also have the crowd and the referee against you.
And when your own coach is making strange decisions, that is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Waldrum, you fall our hand today.

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

I agree with you @Pompei. Falcons would have won the match in the first half had we had Monday upfront.

Omumonu is too soft but she did her best but if I were in coach Waldrum shoes, I would have converted Omumonu to winger.

Anyways, the deed already bn done. It is a shame to CAF that letting African football gotten to this level. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • KENNETH 2 years ago

Just speechless why the coach didn’t pair Monday gift with onumonu. Have been saying it from day one. Let gift come in, but the coach knows best. Well the coach has tried in his first attempt. Hope he can now find new talents to replace the aged players in the team. There are many players for Rivers united that I feel he can look at for a start

  • Hopefully Amaju tenure will end by September.

  • CHARLES 2 years ago

I LOST 500,000K naira because of our coach and number 9 that is cluless

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

I must say I am not totally convinced with the coach but it would be harsh to blame him for this defeat. Chikwelu had no business being in the team, talk less of getting minutes. I was very impressed with okobi, Ajibade, Payne, plumptre, nnadozie and kanu. Uchiebe did very well too. Gift Monday needs to start ahead of onumonu(she was quite disappointing). Female football has really come of age. Ebi looks like she has given her best.

  • pompei 2 years ago

I agree that Onumonu needs to go.
But as she goes, she needs to take back the assist she gave Ajibade that put us in the semis against a Cameroon that looked poised to eliminate us.
She also needs to take back the header that set up Kanu’s goal in this game against Morocco. Plus the goal she scored against Botswana.
After we give her back all these things and more that I have not mentioned, we can let her go.
I agree completely with you guys.

    • Bobo Colorado Springs 2 years ago

True talk Pompei. To me, there is nothing wrong with Onumonu, she put pressure on the opponent defence, just that a player made a mistake or didn’t live up to your expection doesn’t mean she is bad. What of all her contributions in this tournament.

  • Field Marshall. General. Sir Johnbob 2 years ago

    Unbelievable!!
The girls somehow contrived to do every thing in their power to lose that game! Chaii! What a mind boggling series of one crazy decision to the next, couple that with that bent bastard ref – They must investigate that one, I will personally write to CAF demanding that that disgrace of an excuse for a qualified and impartial world governing body official is nowhere near fit for purpose and must either be re trained and the game forfeited by them or at the very least a replay! Ah ah, see this nonsense now!
Onumonu fall the whole nations hand today o! and not just that she missed a pen, but her reaction was even more annoying and she hadn’t been on her game all evening and that yeye Waldrum was just sitting down taking instructions from a woman, No, this is stupid, this Waldrum must go please o!

  • Omo9ja come and carry your clueless waldrum Abi Na walnut ooo…

The legendary Ismaila Mabo would do a better job…
Waldrum came to destroy the tactical structure of the team, he has failed to impress… Now the Falcons even struggle to score against minnows like Morocco.

Finally I think the Falcons must go back to having a standard homebased team mainly from our youth teams camping longer periods only to have the foreign pros join later, especially in areas the team needs experience and reinforcements…

The most talented team yet the most uncoordinated team in play. Because of shorter camping time..
I think peseiro would do a better job at the world cup…

What a magnificent performance. The girls are heroin. What a performance. Africa can not move anywhere. Earlier on, they rubbed Zambia. Because of Jealousy, they clinically rubbed Super falcons. If I were the coach, I would have walked my players out of the pitch. Corruption in Africa is none to second. I foresaw this earlier, What a game for Nigeria in the face of oppression. The woman of the match collected her prize and walked out of the press. Africa is a zoo. The rest of Africa hate Nigeria. Our leaders are not patriotic. I beg Nigerians make and take a life changing decision in the next presidential election in 2023. Ahhhh. God will punish whoever is bringing distress to Nigerians. Amen!!!!

  • Hi guys i already saw this coming right from when nff asked Florence omagbemi to go few years ago and started recruiting any kind of foreign coach for super falcons u could see that under this coach falcons had been defeated by south africa twice but u see elis she is still there with the south africa but since Florence omagbemi had already left i just want to say peace of advice to the nff these team is nigerians pride they should not let these team fall

    • @Bright, Omagbemi was sacked because she did not stop the ladies from demonstrating and requesting for their dues.
As if Flo is their mothers, the ladies are adultsand can request for what is due to them.
But to the nff knuckle heads, that is not the case.

  • Actually these ladies should be kept together. What the need is a new coach. I will not mind bring Omagbemi back and have Perpetua as his assistant.

  • Ololo 2 years ago

Abeg we should free onumuno biko… She wasn’t in her best today but you can’t take away the fact that she is one of our best strikers.. did you watch her header for the goal we scored.. that’s class..

The third place game will obviously see gift Monday starting her first game, I will go for the pairing of onumunu and gift Monday, and have ordega and kanu at the wings..

Kudos to the team they Lost but gave their best

  • pompei 2 years ago

ONUMONU DON ENTER ONE CHANCE OOO!

  • The girls tried. The coach also tried in the way he managed the team after the red cards. Some other teams would have crumbled in that circumstance. The Morrocans would know they are playing the final game by unmerited favour.
    Kudos to SF.

  • Ololo 2 years ago

Nigeria and new coach no wonder we fail to build on the little success we have..

A coach kept his team for half an hour with 9 players and you think that is easy… If ajibade was not red carded do you think Moroccan would have won this match..

World cup is next year.. leave coach alone he didn’t do too bad.. there are lot of positives in this team.. no assisat, no ajibade, no ayinde.. let’s see how our next match would be like before we draw conclusions

    • @ Ololo, everybody that have said the coach should go have given valid reasons. He is tactically deficient. That is the truth. Preferring old and unfit players to younger, fitter, and better players. Playing most of the players out of position. Nigeria was actually playing 8 players against 11 Moroccan players. Onumonu was a minus 1 in this match. It was very evident. A good coach would have taken her out for fitter players. When you are playing short 1 or 2, you need rugged players on the pitch not a player who has no stamina. Even taking Kanu out and leaving Onumonu on the pitch was unacceptable. Look at all the players he took out and tell me if the coach does not deserve cane. Okobi, Kanu, Ucheibe all taken out at a time you needed them most.

  • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Well….well….well……the summary of it all is that the girls were phenomenal tonight, the God od soccer was just not on their side tonight. Kudos to the girls, what a fantastic team we have

However same cannot be said of the coach Waldrum, he was completely clueless in this tournament. The warning signs has been there when we lost to South Africa in the Aisha cup in Lagos last year.

Keeping on Onumunu and subbing off Kanu is a tactical suicide especially when playing 9 vs 11, you need a mobile player to run at the opponent’s defence in counter attack, so leaving a very slow Onomunu on the pitch and taking out a fast and physically strong Kanu to me was a grave mistake.

Removing Okobi and Ucheibe too was very unproductive, I don’t know what the coach was smoking today.

Why was Gift Monday only subbed in at 89th minute? Her pace together with Kanu would’ve unsettled the Moroccans a bit but hey, I only wish NFF will do the right thing and sack this dumb coach as fast as possible. SF’s dominance in Africa crashed only with Waldrum in charge, failed to win any of the 2 tournaments in Africa with these super talented players………..Shame on Him.

My take on the Red cards was that THEY WERE VERY WELL JUSTIFIED, just down to bad luck on the day

Good luck to the finalists, may the best team amongst them win.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Funny thing is, Nigeria came SO CLOSE to winning this match, even with just 9 players.
If only Monday’s shot that hit the crossbar was just a few inches lower….

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

    CAF are disgrace to Africa.

Point no1. Honest speaking, CAF should be ashamed of themselves. CAF had an agenda and they achieved their goal. Simply put, CAR did not want Nigeria to play at the Wafcon.

Point no2. Amaju Pinnick should resign today after this match. We did not see his impact in all areas of our sports.

Point no3. I am Super proud of our Super Falcons. Our ladies showed class and composure and they showed the whole world never say never Nigeria spirit. I hope our lazy Super Eagles players can emulate Super Falcons from now on.

Point no4. Bravo to coach Waldrum. He did a fanterbulous job in today’s match. However, the only mistake he made was Onumonu. I would have preferred Monday to Omumonu but the coach left Onumonu on the pitch for that duration.

Point no5. Alimah and Rosheedah did the same mistake Iwobi did against Tunisia and they got punish.

But in reality, both two red card were not red cards.

Lastly, I want NFF to take CAF to the FIFA. We can not continue like this. This is a dubious and CAF should be paid dearly for this action.

Same happens against South Africa and Zambia today. We can not tolerate this any more period. Am proud of you always Super Falcons of Africa. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Codex 2 years ago

I once said that I would do a better job of coaching the Super Falcons than Randy Waldrum but blaming him only is not fair, I still believe that NFF also have a share in the blame for not ensuring that the SF were well prepared for the tournament, only Nigeria will be going to a major tournament without Playing warm up matches to iron out chinks and still expect to do well in the said tournament, when will our administrators learn, this is 2023 not 2003.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

The girls did their best but this man no be coach at all even tho a 9 woman team held their own, it was down to their ability not the dumb coach…..He removed Ucheibe, Onobi, and Kalu in a game where u needed the midfield to help the defence and left Onumonu who I would have removed as soon as they scored. Today wasn’t her day and you could see. A tactically sound coach after going up 1 goal ahead with 19 players would have played more defensively and cautiously but I can’t say what this man was thinking..The only reason this doesn’t hurt so bad is cause we have won it numerous times and it’ll be cool to see a new champion but Morocco is not worthy of being champions. A team that couldn’t kill the game for 1 hour playing against 9 players lol.

  • Kenneth 2 years ago

Whats the noise about the coach should go, which coach makes a plan for 2 red card to be given to his team. And leave onumonu alone, how many chances were created for her. Have asked you online coaches to submit your resume to the NFF if Waldum is relieved of his position. The only mistake he can be faulted for was not having gift start the game. simple. Morocco also tried, the defense was solid, breaking them was tough. The red card was our undoing. So give the girls a pat in the back. The Payne girl for me tried even at her tender age. Pumltree also tried with her experience. I believe the coach knows the corrections to make going forward.

  • KangA 2 years ago

All the call for axing ONUMONU is an distraction. Of course, many people cannot differentiate between a battle/campaign and a war. She may have underperformed in some battles, but she contributed brilliantly to the overall war, as stated by @pompei.

The problem we should tackle is corrupt CAF. What exactly is Pinnick doing if CAF/FIFA? To collect alawi and embark on junketing all over the world?

That SA CAF president is destroying African football. He must be stopped NOW!

Well done girls despite the two red cards you put up a good fight. Even though we lost it you guys really tried
